"Sinovac sucks."

Will all due respect, but something out of the mouth of an American soldier, that horde menacing the world, is hard to believe. I mean they aint very capable (ahum cough cough Afghanistan cough cough) now are they?

But, giving the benifit of the doubt, please let that family member provide facts instead of sentiment.

The Chinese fentanyl makers, the Burmese heroin suppliers and the Colombian cocaine providers aren't forcing anyone in the west to partake in their odious creations are they?

So why do millions do just that, voluntarily? Nobody's forcing you to take Sinovac, are they? Thailand completely screwed up their vaccine procurement, with the result that Sinovac became the de facto shot. It's available, which most others aren't, a lot of it was free, and I think it still does the job I want it to do, which is as a place holder until I can get a 4th quarter mRNA booster, which I've booked. I have my 2nd shot in 9 days.

OK so the Medical teams are very vulnerable to virus attacks, however, should they be taking tighter security, like covering up more, frequently changing masks, hand washing, some kind of disinfectant spray when leaving a ward etc and certainly before going home or to a dormitory ? Isn't the Government caring for the 'carer's' sufficiently ???

How do you know they are not?

I see Foxconn is buying 10 million BioNtech vaccines for Taiwan,  would it not be good sense for CP group in Thailand to do similar,  my thoughts are the more people survive Covid means more to be spent in CP stores

I must be weird.   I sent this data to friends around the world bragging how medical workers close to the virus had less than 1% infected.   Maybe the Chinese vax is getting stronger.   If I keep away from the infected I wonder what percent is my chances of getting the virus.

That sounds right—as long as it’s AstraZeneca, not SinoVac.  And what if you get the shots—and they bump you off the Moderna list in favor of someone who’s had no shots at all?

One thing that may prevent that is the cost of moderna (to the recipient).

Anyone on their golden mates list will not even be on any register we will ever know about.

They will be/have been vaxxed up in the privacy of their luxury nests. Have you ever noticed that once the dear leader jab promo has been done, you don't meet politicians, celebrities, or high ranking uniforms at any vaccine center, no matter if it was in Bumrungrad itself.

'whataboutism' is tiresome. And where is the deadly opioid, fentanyl, coming from? A few years ago BBC has a great report on a village where half the families were making fentanyl. Nobody interviewed seemed to see any problem with that.

They might make it, but you don't have to take it. If there was no demand for it, they'd be out of business. And you've just responded with your own "whataboutism". What about some village in the middle of nowhere blah blah blah. So tiresome.

Yes, that's a concern. It looks like it's going to be quite a while before you can get Moderna there. If I were in that position, and it's only by luck* that I'm not, I would choose to get something now.

If for some crazy reason I were in charge of Thailand's vaccine program, this is what I would do:

Create an auction system. Let people bid whatever amount they want for a vaccine. Highest bid goes first, etc.

Take 100% of that money, match it, and distribute that 200% to the many now desperate people in Thailand.

Promote the highest bidders like stars doing charitable good for the country.

Obviously it won't solve everything, but it gets things moving and gets some people food to eat.

Money creates incentives. With enough money involved western vaccines can be acquired and distributed.

Unfortunately the people with really big money have likely already managed to get a good vaccine, so maybe it's too late.

Doctor =/= soldier.

(Can't believe this requires an explanation.)

Soon it will be monthly injections.  That will be floated out there because "it's recommended by experts."  No scientific studies needed, unless perhaps a study is slapped together with a poor design and ridiculously small sample size where any increase in anti-bodies means "It Works!" and then - monthly injections - $Cha-Ching$.  "Experts say."

Eventually, perhaps in a year or more, we'll be looking back to see that fully vaccinated communities still have no "immunity" and the concept of vaccine "herd-immunity" is about as common as a herd of unicorns.  That will confound the "experts" narratives that are backed by at best anecdotal evidence (if any at all).  The clarion cry will be - "You need more shots!"  Imho there is a huge profit motive here that actually trumps science.

Once again citing future outcomes as evidence. Please, please share with us where you purchased your crystal ball or time machine.

The only good thing to come out of this pandemic from our paranoid and xenophobic friends in Thailand is that it started in China. Can you imagine the racism, and hatred they would have for "Farang" if it started in any Western country?

You know that is a great point. You’re 1000% correct. You now be a dirty “dirty” farang.

Why is this so surprising & automatically attributed to Sinovac?  Has it not always been known that the vaccine...any vaccine...is not a bullet proof vest?  That you may still contract Covid but "hopefully symptoms will be lessened?

Truth is most if not all "regular" folks meaning non Medical workers

probably never get retested for Covid once vaccinated & assume all is well.

Even though they could have since caught Covid & were asymptomatic or have lessened symptoms to the point of going unnoticed.  Which in truth makes them Super Spreaders

Medical workers on the other hand are probably tested weekly at least so of course so this already known chink in the Armour of ANY vaccine against a constantly changing Covid Virus will be more often shown

Sinovac is not strong enough to create heard immunity.  Take a look at the stats of countries that used it… vs countries that used effective American vaccines.  Not a single Sinovac success case out there… every country that used it eventually turned to Pfizer and Moderna

I think we are all very surprised Thailand stuck with Sinovac so long, but what do we know?

We know thst china is remarkably influential in this part of the woods. We also know thst they hitched their wagin to the wring horse and the vaccine program is essentilly dead in the water.

So far no vaccine has been strong enough to create herd immunity throughout any country.

That's right the numbers are so insignificantly small. .08 percent of them got COVID... and were mostly asymptomatic based not he reporting .Like you said, they are not 100 percent fool proof. Even a few people have died from COVID after receiving the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as well.
