Thais unconvinced by govt’s unique mix-and-match jab policy

Like many Thais, veteran journalist Wichit Chaitrong had been looking forward to getting a government-provided COVID-19 jab for months – but not anymore. He changed his mind after hearing the government rollout will use Sinovac for the first dose and AstraZeneca for the second – a mix-and-match formula untried by any other country.

“I will look for a safer option,” Wichit said. “I am going to explore alternative vaccines from now on”.

This jab mix-and-match was the last straw, especially after his vaccination booking was cancelled for an unspecified timeframe.

Why do they track prison infections and non-prison infections as separate numbers?

Agreed.   What about the plumbers, mechanics, fishermen etc.?  No seperate figures for them?    They just love to confuse the issue.

Or maybe someone is trying to rub it in coz not long ago they insisted the prison covid situation was "under control" lol!

Things are getting desperate in #Bangkok. Photos of people queuing for vaccination at The Mall Ngamwongwan. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet and are still searching, I wish you the best of luck. And I hope that once you get the elusive appointment, you can be vaccinated safely.

See they closed a sports shop in Central in Pattaya. Not sure why they haven't closed the mall as multiple shops in there listed on timelines again today.

Why they annouce all in hospital's are getting treatment. What kind treatment symtomless people who not feel sick at all are getting "hot tea and hug"! Why not tell actual number how many people really need medical treatment and how many are in hospital only in quarantine!

Although there are record highs for deaths and new cases today in #Thailand, it shouldn’t be overlooked that there is also another new high - 6,327 people were discharged from care and were able to go home. We must be thankful for any good news we can get. Stay safe and #StayHome

Where those discharged from hospital acutely cured ,or were they well on the mend ,and sent home to make way for new admittances /cases .

We all know the numbers are much higher. It’s a kind of prepare the public first and than after 1 week five em the bad news again and it does not sound as bad since we had told you so already. Some factories have a few thousand infected and only report each day a certain number to spread it out. Don’t let me start with the vaccination promises and actual deliveries. Just sad and incapable

what I don't understand: About 2-3 months ago, the TH government (comprising all senior decision makers and learned, literate people) seriously recommended to just go to the Buddhist temples and pray very hard as "the easiest way to conquer the plague"

What happened to the prayers?

They closed the mall a couple of days ago for cleaning.

From the total 9,692 cases that were found in the past 24 hours:

- 6,733 were found via walk-in tests at medical facilities

- 2,944 via proactive tests at known clusters

- 15 imported cases

Image

100 posts complaining about the government and 0 discussing this chart.

Okay, proactive testing numbers are holding steady at 2,470.

Hospital system admissions are up a bit at 7,443. Note by "hospital system", I mean hospitals, field hospitals, hospitel, etc., including beds in parking garages.

Discharges are at 6,327.

My calculator says that 1,115 patients were squeezed into filled hospitals, ie "net admissions". I expect this number to drop, unless new facilities come online.

I would have a discussion about what "admission" means, and case management, but it would bore everyone to tears.

If you are in a field hospital for 14 days and test negative, out you go.

If you are in a hospital and test negative with no symptoms, out you go.

Best they rush to announce the US is donating 1.5 million doses of Pfizer for the umpteenth time this month, that'll make it look like they're achieving something.

No doubt another BS statement from the Government,

This Government should not be relying on handouts from other Countries,  they should be using all the cash they state they have borrowed to purchase vaccine...
