Possibly not vaccinated, but more likely an Indonesian situation where Sinovac failed to prevent infection. Hopefully it prevents severe symptoms.

They (Indonesia) are also battling a record-breaking surge in new cases and deaths, led by the highly contagious Delta variant, while rising infections among medical workers despite being fully immunized with the Sinovac shots have stretched already thin healthcare systems.

"There's a lot of doctors and medical workers who have been vaccinated twice but endured medium and severe symptoms, or even died," Slamet Budiarto, deputy chief of the Indonesian Medical Association, told parliament on Monday, July 5.

Indonesia has vaccinated millions of its healthcare workers with the Sinovac shot and thousands of them are now testing positive for COVID-19.

Let me edit that for you:

They (THAILAND) are also battling a record-breaking surge in new cases and deaths, led by the highly contagious Delta variant, while rising infections among medical workers despite being fully immunized with the Sinovac shots have stretched already thin healthcare systems.

"There's a lot of doctors and medical workers who have been vaccinated twice but endured medium and severe symptoms, or even died,"

There. Perfectly accurate.

No it isn't perfect because they said MILLIONS of Indonesian medical workers have been vaccinated and you don['t say how many Thai medical workers have been vaccinated.

so given the numbers for Indonesia maybe less than 1% of medical workers have become infected.

Vaccinated with Sinovac.

Say no more.

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 391,989 with 3,240 deaths.

Less than 1 percent fatality rate. Hopefully they can bring that number down as they develop better treatment protocol. Stay safe everybody.

Impossible with Thailand's transparency being non-existant.

Another hospital closed due to 300 staff being infected.  I assume they've been vaccinated.

So exactly 72 hours from the time we walked in and took our tests on Wednesday at PCT, we finally got the results back.  Our tests thankfully were negative, but the delay in notifications is what bothers me as far as others who test and may be positive, but during those 3 days those people could be running around infecting others.  This also may be the delay in the daily numbers as well being posted in a timely manner.  The Cases listed today could be from tests three days ago or even sooner if they were done by VIP service.  Therein also lies the inequity for those that can pay and those that can not.  Hope everyone stays safe.  For the first time in 3 days we will head out for a walk outside and maybe around Lumpini park, of course masked up as always.

That sure is a long time!

Did they mention that it would take that long?

Frustrating.

Okay, this looks really ugly now. They must put the whole country under full lockdown ASAP. I don't understand what the hell they are waiting for.

Because millions live day by day. You could always donate some of your farang wealth to them so they can stay home and lock down.

No doubt another BS statement from the Government,

This Government should not be relying on handouts from other Countries,  they should be using all the cash they state they have borrowed to purchase vaccine...

Why would they spend the money they worked so hard to obtain and hide away in their bank accounts overseas that was stolen from the people.  Better to play the woe is me card saying please help us "no one can get us vaccines and we want them", so that you can get free ones sent to you.  This way you don't have to use any money at all, and then you can charge the public for those as well, yes sarcasm.  Luckily I think the donated vaccines are truly being given out free.

And, still absolutely no urgency in procuring more vaccines quickly.  Just the slow-motion plodding along passing potential contracts from this agency to that agency to yet another and another--with nothing actually getting done--including the Moderna contract.  They just keep repeating the same news about this or that vaccine shipment until we are all dizzy--hoping we will not realize that nothing is being done and no quality vaccines have arrived at this late date.

No we were told within 48 hours we should know, but when they are testing thousands of people you know there is going to be a backlog.  The only short ques were for those paying the 3500 bhat for the VIP testing which was being done inside an airconditioned building and those folks were in and out in like 20 minutes.  Our tests were done outside.

Someone put me straight in the UK yesterday there was around 52000 infections and 63 deaths over a 28 day period, minimal percentage, Thailand has 10000 infections and 140 deaths thats over 10% figures dont make any sense, which country is telling porky pies ???

If you can assume that the figures are true, then the reason is probably that far more people in the UK are already vaccinated  than in, which reduces the severity of symptoms, even with the delta variant.

You can assume all you want. You don't know how many medical workers in total were vaccinated. You don't know if all proper PPE procedures were followed. You don't know if they were dealing with one or more patients who falsely tested negative.

And you can't vaccinate anybody with a vaccine you don't have.

I think they saw this coming, with all the talk of tighter lockdowns and travel bans yesterday.

Your right.

But they should have seen this coming ages ago.

India's horrible death toll has been all over social and news outlets for months.

The need now is to get enough Oxygen tanks and ventilators.

That may not be a good assumption.

Also, it’s unclear if the 300 are infected, or just in isolation due to contact with an infected patient.

what I don't understand: About 2-3 months ago, the TH government (comprising all senior decision makers and learned, literate people) seriously recommended to just go to the Buddhist temples and pray very hard as "the easiest way to conquer the plague"

What happened to the prayers?

Buddha is letting the people know he's not happy with letting the lunatics run the asylum!
