I was trying to check the status of my 90-Day Online reporting using Chrome browser, and I was not able to retrieve the status page. Finally figured out it was because I was in "Incognito" Mode. So, I'm thinking both to apply and to check your 90-Day online reporting, DO NOT use Chrome's Incognito Mode.

Just guessing that popups are blocked by default in this mode?

They are not blocked in the incognito mode.

Everything's the same except there are no cookies or extensions running.

Maybe there was some other variable. All I can say is that as soon as I left Chrome's "Incognito" mode I was able to access my status. Also, when in Incognito mode, I tried to check the status using Name/Passport/DOB, rather than the Transaction reference number, and I couldn't get the Nationality drop-down menu to work. YMMV!

Yep. Just tried Status check in Chrome standard and incognito window and can't get the nationality entered from the search/dropdown. Works in Firefox.

Trying to paste reference number to Chrome leads to inoperable state.

Chrome 92.0.4515.107

Is it related to a Chrome update?

I was having that problem earlier but just tried again and it worked with reference number and passport info.

Same version of Chrome as you mentioned.

Your description might be consistent with some fixes for Chrome problems.

https://www.techradar.com/news/google-just-broke-the-internet-for-some-chrome-users-in-windows-10-but-theres-a-fix

I tried misc of the fixes to no avail until the final straw:

install Chrome Beta version and it works.

I don't recommend that just for this purpose.

So either resort to Edge (on every Win10) for now.

Or if you can, wait for a soon to come next Chrome update.

Just seen the article above is from May

I am not having any of the problems described in that article.

I am sure they have done a Chrome update since May when it was written.

Yes from May but the problem with the immigration site is existing and gone with the Beta version.

I have not had the problem again. Just did it and it worked. Put in random numbers and all of them were entered without a problem.

Earlier was the first time it had ever happened. I am inclined to think it was a problem with online reporting site.

Now I had Chrome opened/idling for some 45 minutes.

Tried again and it works.

Closed the browser, open the browser and it does not work

And that is the difference. You probably have Chrome by default, open for xx minutes and it works.

I have it set to open on startup of my computer. It is the only browser I use.

I have lots of bookmarks setup on it.

As many use Chrome by default the error may not surface too often.

OP here. OK guys, maybe I gotta take this post back. Updated to the latest version of Chrome <Version 92.0.4515.107 (Official Build) (64-bit)> and got in OK, even in Incognito mode. Regardless, it may be something to try if you're having problem with the 90-Day Reporting site.

BTW - should I go back and update/revise my original post??

No.

As written, it works if I have opened the browser for "a while" (as described in the troubleshooting link I have provided).

Maybe a mod might consider changing the title.

I've used online reporting since 2015 and my checklist for ensuring success (assuming their intranet is actually working) is:

1. Use IE.  Chrome and everything else are problematic - the problems vary depending on hardware used, software version, and everything else including which way the wind is blowing on the day.

2. Before you start, check popups are enabled, clear the browsing history, disable or bypass any VPN.

3.  MOST IMPORTANT - clear the IE browsing history AGAIN before submitting a page or proceeding to the next page.

4. Use ALL the dropdowns.  If a dropdown freezes or is unresponsive (usually the nationality), CLEAR THE BROWSING HISTORY yet again and the dropdown will usually function.

5. For the first time yesterday, the nationality dropdown froze on me while checking my report status - I simply cleared the internet history/cache and it worked fine.

5. If it all goes tits up, have a coffee, go back and start again, do not pass GO, and do not collect $200.
