As the title says, I'm wondering if anyone has a recent list of documents required for a non-o extension in Bangkok based on marriage to another foreigner. My husband is here on a non-o (based on his work as a teacher) and I'm piggybacking on his visa. Just wondering what to take with me when I go in - I'd like to do it in one trip if possible.

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to go early to apply for the extension? I know the rules recently changed and they say only 3 days before your visa expires, but I'm due to give birth the day my visa expires; I don't really fancy going into labor at the immigration office ????

You will be applying for an extension of stay for being a member of you husband's family.

You will need your legalized marriage certificate and a copy of it.

A completed TM7 form with a 4 X 6 photo attached. Copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card.

Copies of your husband's passport photo page, visa, extension of stay stamp and entry stamp.

Immigration will also want a letter from his employer confirming he is still working for them.

What is required can vary from one immigration office to another.

I am sure they would allow you do it earlier than 3 days do to you are to giving birth.

Thank you! That seems very clear and straightforward (easier than the initial application, actually). One question about the "legalized marriage certificate." We were married in Korea and I got certified translations of our marriage certificate - this is what I used in my initial visa application. Is that sufficient, or should I take it to one of our respective embassies (British or US) for legalization?

I thought that maybe I'd get a doctor's letter in Thai stating the date I am due and take that in with me so hopefully they let me do things in mid-to-late August instead. I suppose in a worst-case scenario I could go in late with a medical certificate (and newborn, that'll be fun...and safe).

It should be accepted if was accepted by immigration before.

Neither of those embassies will legalize a document. A affidavit attesting it a true and correct original document can be done at the US embassy.

A letter from the doctor should allow you do it early. After the extension expires it would not be of any help at all to prevent a overstay fine. It could be used to apply for a extension up to 90 days for medical care before your extension expires.
