Popular Post Speedhump Posted August 11, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2021 If being a deep red zone doesn't mean urgently in need of all measures to stop the effects of COVID, what does it mean? I'm not mainly concerned about my wife and myself, although 64 years old and waiting for weeks now for the queue numbers at Hua Hin Hospital vaccination to move. We hardly leave the house anyway, even before COVID, so whatever. What I'm angry about is the number of Thais who have to queue now for free food at HH train station etc. because their jobs have been taken away from them due to this further hospitality industry brutalisation. Some Thais I know are really at the end of their tether now, (not all have permanent jobs now which will allow them social security) after continually being crushed in their hopes of some regular employment. It's a real tragedy. Either we're deep red or not, surely. I think lift the deep red status and let some semblance of life take place, or act as though you mean it and look after all people in PKK, not just closing businesses and instituting a curfew. 3

All they do is keep the shutters down but continue to sell alcohol and the police know about it but they will be getting the brown envelope treatment. Shocking attitude 1

Some bars and massage shops open. Too many people walking around and riding motorbikes in public without masks. Yesterday, I had to go downtown to a bank to get some cash - as all the banks in the malls are closed. I noticed an elderly farang woman without a mask walking straight in front of a police officer. What did the police officer do - SFA.

Dickp Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 I do not understand the OP "to this further hospitality industry brutalisation." That are you trying to say? I was at a Major Bangkok Hospital yesterday, talking to many Doctors and first line staff that come into contact all day long with sick people. Every one had a Pfizer booster shot.

MrJ2U Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Frustrating! Just order 200 Mrna million vaccines. You'll still need more later as boosters. You have to order now. Its going to take months, but you have to place an order.

You misunderstood, I am talking about hospitality (restaurant, hotel, bar staff, etc. laid off work) , not hospital staff. Brutalised by the repeated full lockdowns. Some have become depressed and tired almost beyond endurance. Suicides have been reported to have increased. 1
