Resort owners on the Kwae Noi river within the confines of the Sai Yok national park in Kanchanaburi in the west of Thailand have been warned that new laws mean their encroachment can be prosecuted no matter how long they have been there.

They have been told even if they have been there a thousand years they have to leave, reported Daily News.

The media went with Niphon Jamnongsirisak of the Bang Pong protection zone and the Sai Yok park director Somjet Janthana to see if an order that came from the  Natural Resources and Environmemnt minister Varawut Silapa-archa was being followed.

It was.

It related to the Sai Yok Floatel, a five star facility with 29 rooms, restaurant and pool on the tributary  that had been given 30 days to leave the park as of August 6th.

After 13 days most of it had been tugged elsewhere already.

Consequently the owner would not face jail time for encroachment and further legal action.

Other resort owners and house owners facing charges have been told to follow suit.

There would be no escape for anyone who has illegally encroached on National Park land in the area.

Move it will not be such a big problem. Like stated, it´s floating. ????

However, I thought you needed very good safety and security standards to be a five star hotel. This seems to be an easy fall into the river with it´s streams at many places.

I feel sure a very large brown envelope would have helped matters.

As he's moving out I don't think so.
