Off topic.  This is about ASEAN, not Asia.  Google it if you don't know the difference.

Has someone found where the Thai vaccine development can be tracked? If they really develop this and it works, Thailand is back in game

I'm not a scientist never even had a chemistry set as a kid, I am confused, how difficult can it be to reproduce (not copy) an effective/proven vaccine by dismantling/separating and identifying the components required?

I said ages ago that AZ were about to discover the usual fate of Western companies in joint ventures in Thailand. Now looks likely to happen when their IP is no doubt shamelessly ripped off as per....

Maybe, just maybe you should not make dumb comments before you know what your talking about. Astra and the this vaccine are different. Astra is not an mRNA vaccine. This is closer to Pfizer and moderna. So next time before you let your bias show research a bit.

Thanks Robollocks, I have better things to do with my life that assiduously research government puff pieces put out by the NNT. We'll wait and see what rubbish they steal more taxpayers' money to "develop" when there are already perfectly good vaccines out there.

Yes but you do seem to have enough time to think about it as you said it ages ago. Perhaps you just get off on making unfounded remarks based on your bias. If you state something about copying a vaccine and something you warned about in the past and thought about it would only be normal to check if the vaccines were similar. But then again people with the urge to bash Thailand all the time often don't like facts.

"As the regional center of manufacture, Thailand expected to produce at least 10 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine monthly, but has only been able to supply 5-6 million for the domestic market."

so using Thai logic - instead of devoting resources to improving production output of a known vaccine they will divert resources into producing a homegrown version -  because as we know, Thai is always best.

I've told you a zillion times not to exaggerate.

Here's a fact you may not like: obsequious boot-lickers who supported violent, armed, seditious fascists indulged in the worst kind of 'Thailand bashing' on every level, and are partly responsible for the sorry plight the country is now in.

Know anyone like that?

It hasn’t even finished clinical trials yet! Currently, they are at phase 2.  It sounds more like pending clinical trial data.

If Thailand asks Bhutan for something, and Bhutan says "OK", is that Bhutan offering them something?

This news article comes from the national news source, so take it with extra salt!

why a spokesman for the foreign ministry is talking about locally made vax?

that it's not his expertise at all. Himself he is an IT guy.

Are they cooperate with some foreign academics on development?

are they buying a licence?

are they copying without authorisation?

what is an exact role of diplomats in those processes? espionage?

is it because dr Anutin is holed up at his rancho playing with some pinched donated pfizer and somebody else has to bring any good news in those desperate times?

Is Dr. Evil somehow involved?

Up until about 2013 Thailand made high quality hard drives for other brand names, they also sold a lot of rice worldwide - then came some changes.

That's not true as I was actively involved with establishing global supply chain infrastructure for PC & systems manufacturing at that time.  I personally examined & evaluated Thai-built CD & DVD players and DQ'd them.  Where every factory assembled the DVD case using small screws, the samples submitted by Thai companies used tape...
