9-year-old boy dies in Koh Phangan.

9-year-old Israeli boy dies from medusa burn on beach in Koh Phangan.
Rescue workers provided first aid to a boy burned by a poisonous cube jellyfish - but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Nothing unusual. Happens sometimes around Samui, especially during rainy season.

Got bit by some sort of jellyfish in a remote part of Indonesia.  I went through some kind of toxic shock, like I had just downed a litre of espresso.  No doctor on this island, but I was able to get on the internet and learned that antihistamines can fight it off; luckily I had a bunch of tablets that I carry for my sinus problems.  My guess is it was a Portuguese man o' war.

A week later or so later I was back in KL, and within a few hours of checking into my hotel I was suddenly knocked on my sat-upon by something that felt like a flu.  Weird, I even visited Dolly for a few nights on the way back and felt great.  Have no idea if the two are connected, but I do believe the stings lowered my resistance.  Funny thing: on the bus from KL airport into the city (it takes all of an hour) I was sitting next to young Malaysian-Chinese woman doctor who had just returned from Australia.  We chatted most of the time, and a few times she asked if I was feeling well.

Unbelievable, you're all so self centred that you don't even think of the boy or what his family are going through!
