BANGKOK, Aug 30 (TNA) – The Public Health Ministry plans to acquire second-generation vaccines in the first quarter of next year to cope with COVID-19 mutations.

Announcing the COVID-19 vaccine procurement plan, Dr. Supakit Sirilak, director-general of the Department of Medical Sciences, said that the government’s COVID-19 vaccine acquisition committee agreed that the country would no longer order first-generation vaccines but would try to buy the new vaccines that could cope with viral mutations.

The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration approved the acquisition of second-generation vaccines for 120 million more doses.

I imagine most of us will have to get booster shot 6 months after our second shot to deal with the mutant variants so 1st April is about right.

If the two big USA companies keep producing then we 'must' buy.

Hope these 2nd gen vaccines will work against this latest variant detected

Extract of an article from the Jerusalem Post

"A new coronavirus variant, C.1.2, has been detected in South Africa and a number of other countries, with concerns that it could be more infectious and evade vaccines, according to a new preprint study by South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform. The study is awaiting peer review."

So apparently, similarly with the other flu viruses, we'll have to get vaxxed for the rest of our lives.. ????

It is sure looking that way and possibly for each new strain.

New Sinovac incoming? ????

So if you already had the 1st generation jabs should you wait and get the 2nd generation or maybe wait for the 3rd generation? How long is this sh-- going to go on.

Yes, I read a report, too but from a different source. Apparently there are two versions of this 'Delta Plus' variant, AY1 and AY2. The problem lies within the mutation of the protein spikes. Basically, proteins twist and the number of different twists depends on how complex the twists are and how different positions can interact across the complex. Unfortunately, Covid virus spikes have the potential to mutate (different positions) in a very large number of different ways. We can only hope that many will turn out to be less harmful like the Lambda variant.

I wonder what gave them the idea of ordering vaccines so early on?

They have not been ordered, merely an approval for acquisition.  (TIT!)
