Popular Post konaboy
My family of 5 drove from Pathum Thani with many bins and luggage in our 2 pu trucks. We are moving. Another large truck has all our furniture and left earlier to storage. Well tarped for rain. 6hours on the road. No road blocks. Arrived around 6pm and headed to the hospital for our tests. I went thru Q in BKK in June and was tested 4 times from entry until release. This time the Buriram hospital was VERY serious. Filled out multiple papers and all the personnel was well protected. My farang charge was 600 BT. In talking to the nurse I was told Thai's were free. I noticed my wife was passing several 1000 Baht notes thru the cashier window. Later she told me Thai's had to also pay? Interesting. No one has said anything about further tests. It took several hours to get everyone tested. Our 2 dogs went to stay with a friend. We went to eat at the market and my wife said not to talk out loud about our journey, since we were not cleared yet. We next had to go to Temple to clear for something like immigration? By now it was 9 pm. Everyone at the Temple was asleep. Some were Q there. After several photos of our IDs and PP and filling out and signing several papers in Thai we were released to go to our hotel to Q for 14 days. We began getting Texted from Buriram hospital that we all were negative. 10:30pm now. Arrived at hotel and lift was out of order!! WE were placed on the 3rd floor! We began to bring up our bags and bins. Some very heavy. For some reason we were halted half way and told to stay in our room now. We didn't have all our stuff yet!! Myself and Wife and 11 yr old son in one room and 20 yr old stepson and girlfriend next door. A long table and security tape at eye level were placed across our front door! We fortunately, were able to order food thru the family and not all meals from local restaurants. We cannot go out. We have 11 days to go. 2 1 7
buick
may i ask your vaccination status ? i'm being told by the amari hotel people that i'm free to come and go as i please as long as i have proof of vaccination status. i'm planning to fly to buriram next week assuming nok air sticks with their current schedule, it seems to change by the day. oddly, the amari also wants to see my ASQ bkk papers even though that was completed in late july. i have a feeling a representative from buriram hospital will be at the airport to meet all arriving passengers. so we'll see how that goes, their rules may differ from those at amari and i'll be locked up or re-board the plane back to bkk. MrJ2U
Interesting report. Hows the hotel? I remember staying in Burriram years ago. They were just beginning to build a Big C. That was big deal. I bet it sure has changed-and for the better! Good luck! Edited September 8, 2021 by MrJ2U

konaboy
I am vaccinated with 2 shots of Phizer. Nobody cared. I know some people avoid all this and just melt into the town. but hospital has you on a QR code. Driving in, the town looked open and many shopping spots. The bins were for rain and moving large quantities of stuff. We are moving here.

On the same strip as Makro, BigC and Robinson, there is a HomePro, with a few more shops and eateries. All in all, Buriram seems to have developed into quite a well-rounded city.

I'm told the local, police, puuyai barns and village volunteers will report new arrivals that bypass quarantine. The police will escort people unwilling to co operate to quarantine facilities. I know this is happening in neighbouring provinces after so many covid cases resulted from new arrivals not quarantining. 1

All in all, Buriram seems to have developed into quite a well-rounded city. i agree. the place is much improved since my first visit around 2010. the S&P restaurant in that cluster of eateries by the arena was one of my go to spots, but it closed. i've been to home pro, i eat at the MK there as it isn't as crowded as the others in town. home pro is not a bad spot at all. i've never been to Makro. as far as travel to buriram goes, i'm really considering a change to the plan. rather than fly in with nok air and run the airport gaunlet, i'm now planning to book a car service to take me up there one way. then i will fly back (to bkk). i trust the amari hotel, they tell me i can show up there and i won't be in quarantine. but i don't trust what will happen at the airport on arrival. i did notice that nok air has scheduled flights for every day next month. so maybe there will be a change to the quarantine rules by then. right now, flights not going every day and i've seen the schedule change a few times for flights over the next two weeks. Not sure on the situation now, I understand Tesco have pulled out or are pulling out of Thailand, but for some time Tesco seem to have decided that they will not locate near to their rivals in the main towns of each province but rather outside. Offering their services to those in smaller districts. Smaller store but, as stand alone supermarkets, a bigger customer base. Nang Rong, Prakhonchai, Satuk all have Tesco Lotus. If you travel around, Issan at least, you will see similar Tesco stores in smallewr district away from the main town of the provinces.

S&P had one dish that i liked. plus it was air conditioned. several of the other spots in that compex have no A/C. edit: here is a good one for you. i was in cabo san lucas with a bunch of friends. a real seafood mecca. i ordered a beef burger !!! no one could believe it.
