The governor of Surat Thani province in the south of Thailand reported that 1,058 foreigners had now arrived on the island of Koh Samui as part of the Samui Plus Model reopening and Phuket extensions.

There have been 110 flights into the island from Suvarnabhumi and Phuket since the model began mid July.

The latest arrivals on Monday brought the Samui Plus total to 621. In addition 49 have now arrived under the Phuket 7+7 scheme and 388 had completed 14 days in the Phuket Sandbox.

This all added up to 1,058. They had stayed at 15 hotels, said provincial governor Wichawut Jinto yesterday.

A further 996 tourists had booked a total of 10,485 room nights in the coming weeks, he said.

Now the TAT and other agencies were looking at plans to open up two other areas in Surat Thani - the Khao Sok National Park and the reservoir area known as Cheow Lan Dam.

621 direct arrivals - complete failure. It is obvious that the Phuket Sandbox entry requirements and hotel choices are way better.  Make it easier for the people to come in order to make Samui+ viable.

That’s brilliant....it has only been going a couple of months....roughly 10 persons per day LOL

It must be killing Bangkok Air as Koh Samui is by far there biggest revenue of all flight both National and international but there again look at the prices they charge the sooner Samui gets an alternative air operator the better that’s the only way prices will ever come down . I choose to fly via Suratthani rather than give my money to Bangkok airways .

Seven weeks into the programme, 110 flights carrying anything between 621 and 1058 passengers ...... let the numbers just sink in for a moment to realize, that this is a gigantic day dream and has nothing to do with a qualified tourism operation.

Take those which are shown in the Phuket figures away, as well as those returning to families and work places ........

Don't knock-it, it's saving the nation.

10 per day spending thousands of baht to help re-float the nation

Agree talking to someone last night who would have preferred to do the Samui prison stay but too few hotels and very expensive. He did the Phuket (Alcatraz) stay instead.

Onother fantastic job done by TAT and their frontman Piphat, the dreamer.
