It's not gonna happen. Bars are the first to close and the last to open. And for good reason. It's just not safe. Neither is dining really. I'd love to see them open, but it just won't happen this year and maybe not for another 12 months or so. The way this government is mis-handling the pandemic, the bars are all screwed. Few will survive.

Minimum start time, Maybe, 2025, even their banks are saying that. Thai Gov keep coming up with something to say on a daily basis, they really need to shut up, get their act together until they have something real to announce.

It's a continuous downward spiraling loop now.

They really seem to be clueless as to what it is.  This place is not Europe with much more interesting historical sites, venues, much better varied geographics.   Phuket is much more oriented for family vacations with broader beach resorts and family oriented facilities.

Most do not come here for the culture or nature,  jeez how stupid.

They need to realize the truth that 2 week millionaire male tourists and male entertainment venues/activities will be the only way for Pattaya to make any kind of recovery from this.

So, open their minds and figure out ways to attract the millions of males in the world who want to come to Pattaya and enjoy a good time.

That is exactly what they don't want, smack bang in the middle of their new Eastern Economic Corridor dream.

They want rid of the sex-tourism industry mate, not attract more of it!

Entire cabinet has been on the glue if you ask me coming up with policies like this!

These are very deliberate and well thought out policies to change the demographic of visitors to the place. COVID just a bonus to accelerate the process.

I've heard it spoken out load at presentations and meetings by officials when they have been discussing the EEC, which is now enshrined in the constitution, so we all better get used to it as things are changing.

The days of Thailand being a haven for sex-tourists and other reprobates is rapidly coming to an end.

Gosh, it's like they WANT the reopening to fail.

Tourists don't, IMO, go to Pattaya for Thai culture, and the city is IMO a grot hole with terrible traffic. Other than Temple of Truth, Mini Siam, Alcazar and Tiffany, what is there to see that can't be seen elsewhere that doesn't involve staying in a grot hole?

....Temple of Truth?

my temple called Pattaya soi6.

Thailand was a whore house before the farang came along go back to the second world war when Thailand supplied ladies to the Japanese army

Strange isn't it that certain people wax lyrical about Thai culture yet deny a major and ingrained part of it. I read an article some years ago that suggested around 80% of Thai males ( cant recall the precise age bracket ) visited some form of brothel at least once a month.

Surprised that they haven't been listed yet as Thai only reserved occupations.

The alcohol ban is a misguided effort from pumpkin face and his entourage in government to slap a ban because they think Thais and tourists alike cannot control themselves when they drink alcohol and that inhibitions are lowered and therefore they will not follow the rules on mask wearing and social distancing.

All this ' part of a grand plan ' as suggested by the conspiracy theorists on TVF to clean up Thailand by its puritanical leaders are just blowing smoke!

Those asses in government don't think that far ahead and you give them way too much credit.

Thailand has one of the highest alcohol per capita ratios in SE Asia.

Windmill and Coconut Bar are the main attractrions, followed by 6/1.

In Pattaya - definitions may vary........

I am sure the officials have been helping out the poor massage girls and focusing on natural activities purely to assist the local economy and give it a boost.
