Respected Members,

I am an Indian national married to a Thai national. We have 2 kids who are both Thai nationals. I have been looking at ways to extend my current Non Imm O visa based on marriage to a Thai national.

I have a steady job in Thailand and meet the 65000 THB per month criteria in lieu of the 400,000 THB in the bank. When I enquired with the local Immigration, they are informing me that I cannot extend my Non IMM O visa based on monthly income and instead should opt for the Non Imm B visa. I am employed by a reputed organization in Bangkok and used the Non Imm O Visa intentionally so that in case something happens with my employment my visa is still secure as it is based on marriage to Thai national. I took this option since I was given to understand that if I lose my employment then a Non Imm B is cancelled with 7 days and I have to return back to my home country. I have missed the 400,000 THB option as I did not maintain it for the required amount of time.

Can somebody give me some pointers on how I can go about extending my current Non Imm O visa based on my monthly income from an organization in Thailand?

Your assistance will be much appreciated.

Best,

Your visa cannot be extended. You can extend the permit to stay it allowed.

You can use your income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement to apply for a extension of stay based upon marriage. You would use tax payments to prove your income. You would need your work permit and possibley proof the company is registered.

The immigration office telling you cannot use your income from working is wrong.

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife to get more time to have the 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months if needed.
