That's ok fyi The words CONTROL and KAOS never stood for anything. They were an inside joke over the use of acronyms in TV shows at the time such as Man from U.N.C.L.E and the James Bond archvillains in S.P.E.C.T.R.E. fyi SPECTRE was a play on U.S.S.R but changed because of concerns during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. fyi the Beetles Song Back in the USSR (subsequently used in a Bond Movie) was with them singing it as Back in the USS ah which was an intended parody over the USA with the A being said by John Lennon who didn't know it as A but Ahh. Did you know that McCartney is the only person with two credits for a Bond Movie (Live and Let Die being the other one)

something just made me quite mad and i need to vent.....

and bedlam seem to be the place i can mention things that are not exactly of any particular topic.....so perhaps this thread is as good as any?

Ive seen this way too often on the forum where someone asks for any sort of help, big or small, and there'll always be the usual smartypants with their mightier than thou attitude....most times I just ignore them and not pay any attention, but today was reading this thread by Mobi....wanting to help a very old farang man seeing the replies that I really lost it!!! what is wrong with people? or is it the internet and the anonymity of things on the net that make people fail miserably from the acceptance level of civil behaviour?

is it so hard to just mind our own business rather than always have to have some smart comments to make even when you have nothing useful to add?

having been on this forum perhaps too long....ive also noticed other behaviour on the internet that often make me question why people think they can treat others less humanly than they would in real life. why shouldnt basic common courtesy still apply?

I am guilty of breaking that rule, albeit infrequently, some people unfortunately make it their life's work.

While I am here and MIG is venting, I'll get one off my chest.

One of my best friends from the UK came over here a few weeks ago, he is a genuinely lovely bloke and has been visiting Thailand for about fifteen years, he used to own a bar with his Thai female partner on Soi 8, but sacked it off when it became too much of a burden.... he is well known and well respected by the Thai and ex-pat community as a whole. When I took a little trip to visit him, everywhere we went there were cries of "Sa-teve" and hugs all round.

He weighs about 25 stone.

i think I know what what MiG means, though. I've seen it a lot on torrent sites - the comments pages for downloads - and other sites that allow pople to post messages, semi anonymously, like youtube, facebook, etc...

Really brutally slagging of others, extremely antisocial language, stuff that I'd rarely say to my enemies, and sometimes might say jestingly when among friends and booze, but people these days tend to just use any language in any situation.

2. why ask a forum of unknown people to help when he himself is not prepared to offer any 'material' assistance.

3. the man in question has already driven any help away and has created the situatuion he is in.

To be fair Robbo, I am on the other side of the coin, I cannot see what was irresponsible, if it brings out the worst in people, that is their problem not his.

He wasn't asking for anything material in value, just information on trying to find some kind of Home Help where the guy was willing to pay for services rendered, and what better place than here, where a possible good reference could be found.

As for the man driving away all help, unfortunately this is true, but still posting for him to find a high rise and learn to fly pretty rapido, is abhorrent in the extreme.

Anyway on a more serious note, have you heard the news, Mark is a millionaire, so the first drinks are on him and the last and all those considerable in-between.

I think people use the internet to release their dark side sometimes. No, you can't get away with a lot of stuff on a forum that you would with people around, so the carelessly indulge in this. Also, maybe just cause I am a glass really close to empty kind of guy, I think that is how most people are and their is no need to put on a face online.

Yes, I read Mobi's thread. As Miggy said, he did not ask for donations, just a request to find a paid helper for the man. As usual, the thread got mangled and turned into a colon twister. General is the worst forum here, IMO; lots of bamboodlers. You can tell that Mobi is a true gentleman, and look at what these mud-slingers said to him.

Even my "show us your neighbourhood" thread was moved to Beddies. I mean, did they expect Patpong photos and rude comments from these boobs? Main forum is nasty business. I'm staying home; at least I know my cell mates' routines.

FYI:

Mobi is a Gent, if not a Saint.

He has his faults, as we all do, but he is one of few that I know, including myself, who is continuously, and actively trying to restore himself through action, not just nice fuzzy words.

In principle, I agree with a sentiment mentioned that the fault of posting ingeneral is NOT mobi's, but rather the issue of those who've posted inconsiderate replies.

But then I go with the philosophy of (BTW not always succeeding in this) the philosophy of giving my best, expending energy for those who are considerate, even if they are not to my liking - mobi is a mate, nay, true friend, btw - and not expending my energy for those who piss me off. IE: somebody is not acceptable not me, I will not expend my energy on that person.

Mobi posted a considerate post, for a man who, through whatever reason, is in a bad situation. Whatever the faults of the man, they are not Mobi's.

I ( and many others here) know what he -pretty much single handedly - achieved for an honourable mission in Pattaya, and I have an inside track that I promise you, dictates he has acheived a lot, in all aspects of his life, be they personal, social, professional, etc...

Mobi's is perhaps one of the few genuinely good people around.

So I guess my point is i'll have no more knocking him here in Bedlam. Keep it to the general forums if you must.

This perhaps could be what is on Mobi's Creative side.

Yep, you said that already. General should be a place to post a general call for info. Those posters are wanklettes as proven by the responses. Other forums' people would rally to Mobi's call, not deliberate over the worthiness of it. General is like the Liberal party in the US Congress.
