For certain, the Virus is far from being under control in Thailand.

There is currently a huge outbreak in the Deep South, with all the known Variants of the Virus in play

An outbreak in Hua Hin

Another in Chang Mai, Etc Etc

This outbreak in Khon Kaen seems to be the start of a possible trend, as more and more clusters are being reported Daily.

There appears to be a trending rise in cases Nationally, and yet the official numbers are declining

Hmmmm.

S.Korea to donate 1.1 mln doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam, 470,000 doses to Thailand

SEOUL, Oct 12 (Reuters) - South Korea will donate 1.1 mln doses of AstraZeneca’s (AZN.L) COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam and 470,000 doses to Thailand, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said on Tuesday.

The donations come as South Korea has administered nearly 80% of its 52 million population with at least one dose of a vaccine, KDCA said in a statement.

Maybe COE will still be required, therefore controlling the number entering the country. I think TAT's predictions of tourist number would overwhelm any systems put in place. Even in the UK there was problems with the PCR testing system for travellers.

I am wondering if there will be a need for COE if you have been fully vaccinated. No need to prove bookings for quarantine hotels etc. Also the UK is going over, possibly, to ATK testing on day 2 as opposed to the costly PCR testing. Maybe Thailand can take a leaf out of that book?

These are the two main items that most travellers would ideally like to see removed before thinking of coming here for a holiday. I would like to visit UK next summer to see family and friends after 3 years, and if these have not been removed then I will be thinking again.

Thailand's bold move to revive tourism to take years: Analysts

BANGKOK (BLOOMBERG) - Thailand's plan to end quarantine for vaccinated visitors is "a fight to win foreign tourists", Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said on Tuesday (Oct 12). But analysts and industry executives see it as a long road to recovery fraught with risks of periodic virus resurgence and unpredictable travel trends.

Agreed, with the addition of 2 new Field Hospitals in Khon Kaen the authorities there are making plans for that. The southern border Provinces are certainly in an uptrend and have been since the start of Sept. Overtaken Bangkok and its 5 vicinity Provinces in case numbers as of yesterday.

EDIT, forgot to add that Anutin is going down to the southern Provinces this week to "address the measures there"

Thailand must be ready for influx of tourists from Nov 1, says minister

Foreigners will flock to Thailand now that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has announced that the country will be reopening on November 1, the Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said on Tuesday.

Pointing out that Thailand is a popular winter destination for travellers from the West, he said the Public Health Ministry should have a strict screening system ready in time.

However, he said, the arrival of foreign tourists will help kickstart the revival of Thailand’s tourism industry by yearend and in the first quarter of next year.
