Apologies, confused you with another poster....sorry

Haven't a clue about import / export of the 70s or 80s, as don't care.  Just know the people that I  personally know that owned the MGBs, and ones I drove, were not even close to performance vehicles, or quality made, having numerous mechanicals.

They went belly up for a reason ... nuff said

The performance was good for for a 1800 stop talking US nonsensical drivial.

As I have said before the B engine was used by car track racers.

Believe what you want, but 1 friend had one, and my brother had 2 MGBs.  He enjoyed his rag tops.  TR7, also c r a p, and only liked the Miata, mechanically, and Mini Cooper.  I drove all 3 MGs, at least once, and not impressed.  If I never drove one, I wouldn't comment.  Better things to do than troll.  Wouldn't be on here now if not pis sing down rain on & off all day.

I'd post a photo of the one getting towed by my Nissan truck, but you'd say it's fake.

Haven't a clue what engines were in them.  Race cars are irrelevant to the conversation.  How many have 200k kms on them.  I don't they're racing stock cars.  That would be impressive, although, did MG win any titles ?

OK, I don't own a MG either, just thought I'd troll in support of a Thai/China product just to PO the anti china/thai folks.????

Almost forgot, another acquaintance had a Midget, never drove that, never wanted to, as way too small.

China’s Popular Electric Vehicles Have Put Europe’s Automakers on Notice

The name MG used to be synonymous with spirited but finicky sports cars from Britain. Nowadays the iconic octagonal badge serves a different kind of motoring ambition: China’s push to become a big player in the global auto market.

SAIC Motor, one of China’s Big Four automakers, bought the MG brand in 2007 and is stamping it on a line of electric sport utility vehicles on sale in Germany and other European markets.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/31/business/electric-cars-china-europe.html

The article goes on to say that almost 10% of autos sold in Western Europe are EVs and that MG has 350 dealers in Europe with more on the way.

More nonsense, and more anti MG rhetoric.

Here are the cars currently built in China and sold in the United States, along with a quick look at the potential newcomers.

The Buick Envision, a luxury compact crossover, was designed primarily for the Chinese market. It was introduced in China in 2014 and brought to the United States in the second quarter of 2016.

Most versions of the Cadillac CT6, a luxury large sedan, are built in Michigan, but the plug-in hybrid model is an interesting exception. It is built by a GM facility in Shanghai. The CT6, which holds the fourth spot in our luxury large car rankings,

A Chinese-built Volvo has been inevitable ever since the Swedish brand was purchased by China’s Geely, and the S60 Inscription has been available in the United States since 2015. The S60 earns top safety scores and above-average reliability, so there should be no concerns about the Inscription’s Chinese origins from a quality standpoint.

The Volvo S90 is also built in China

It has been claimed that without the Chinese Market BMW wouldn't turn a profit. Did you know that most Chinese Beemers are about 4 inches longer than their EU equivalents?

MG have a factory in Thailand.. specialising in RHD vehicles and will soon be exporting to Australia....who sadly no longer have any motor industry of their own. Chinese in Oz are bý far the most rapidly expanding marque on the market

I suspect if that represents your criteria for contact with the opposite sex it would suggest the marked lack of success that drives men into the arms of the bordello girls of Thailand

Please don't start sealioning me because YOU didn't know this....it just pathetic.

The reason is that Chinese businessmen are usually chauffeur driven during the week and need the extra keg room in the rear fir work. At the weekend they all join owners clubs and drive themselves on rallies and club meetings.
