BANGKOK, Oct 20 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported that 70.63% of people in the capital received their second COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Bangkok deputy governor Sophon Phisutthiwong said the BMA was ready for the government's country reopening policy and would report its Bangkok Sandbox measures for the reopening to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration on Oct 20.

As of 10pm on Oct 18, 8,132,826 people received their first COVID-19 vaccine jab, forming 105.63% of the Bangkok population, and 5,437,553 people had their second dose, accounting for 70.63%. BMA expects 80% of its people would receive their second vaccine dose within Oct 30.

Now that really is impressive. 11/10 to all concerned !

  • They just forgot to mention that approximately half of them are "fully vaccinated" with sinovac...

  • It still won't be enough without some form of social distancing, mask wearing, etc.  You just have to look at what is rapidly developing in UK, and now other countries in Europe to realize that. Well

Well done, though. Another 20% to go before full reopening is advisable, and then start on booster jabs for older people, and national cases may be kept down to 50k or so, and 250 deaths per day.

This si very commendable, however many virologists around the world warning that once 6 months past since the last injection the so called fully vaxed are not really 100% protected from getting the Covid all over again, a booster shot however might make a different...

It's a proven fact that worldwide, 82.842089% of reported statistics are made up on the spot.

Seriously, does anyone truly know how many people are living/visiting/hiding out in Bangkok?

Yeah but I live in Pattaya and had both of my vaccinations in Bangkok Bang Sue Central Station so do I count as a Bangkok vaccinee? Could skew the numbers considerably.

That might need some explaining.

%97.7 of adults in Waterford Ireland are fully vaccinated, and yet cases of Covid are exploding; the highest in the country. Singapore (85% of adults), Israel (80%), Mongolia (80%) and many other intensely vaccinated countries are suffering from outbreaks.  Do you think Thailand can escape that fate?

The protection level peaks at 2 months and nearly vanishes after 6 months.

So this begs the question: can you consider someone with two shots of Anutin’s SinoVac as “fully vaccinated”?

Perfectly graph in line with the so called vaccine rollout. The more they jab the higher the numbers go. Ummmmm no thanks.

No, obviously.

The report forgets to make a distinction as too Thai nationals being registered as living in Bangkok (which accounts for the 5.4M) and the number of people actually residing and working in Bangkok (including people actually registered in other provinces and foreign nationals) which would give a more accurate number of more than 10 million residents in Bangkok. Subsequently that would also mean only an approximate 35% is vaccinated.

Creative accounting I guess...

Cases and hospitalized cases are not the same.

Those are actually falling. And more than 90% are unvaccinated or with preconditions.,,????

Check the figures for Israel and Mongolia.

Infections in both places are plummeting down.

Check 'Daily new cases' ....

Good progress but little untruthful, 70% of people who are registered in Bangkok are vaccinated, not 70% of all people living in Bangkok are vaccinated.

@mommysboy  mommysboy is appropriate name for you, another one cowering behind the sofa. let the rest of us get on with our lives and people like you can just stay indoors!  if you're that scared

70% is very dubious.   from what I've heard the schools are unlikely to open in November in Bangkok, so why is that? if 70% of the population are vaccinated. I call BS

Almost no one talks about how quickly the vax wears off.  Many of the articles I have read say it loses over 50% of its protection after 6 months.

Perhaps make the vax a little stronger and mix a little more with other brand vaccines.

Maybe because everyone knows that already, hence boosters
