new infection clusters have emerged from funerals, weddings, at schools

So promissing by reopen the schools yesterday..... weddings are not so many in the past months, because parties were not allowed with more than 25 persons or 50.

CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said today (Monday) that Nakhon Si Thammarat in the South, Chiang Mai in the North, Khon Kaen in the Northeast, the western province of Tak and two eastern provinces of Rayong and Chanthaburi are now on the list.

So now that the re-opening has been pushed through the truth about infection levels will slowly rise again.

Lets hope tourists are given a warning that although Thailand is open (of sorts) the government has 10 Provinces on the watch list because of the rising infections, they also have very low local community vaccination rates and so travel there should be avoided or at own risk?

Lets hope Thailand goes back on "Red countries lists" as they realise Thailand has been economical with the truth.

I asked the question yesterday, when this article was posted on Twitter, what the vaccination rates were for the 6 new provinces added.  I got this response (I don't know where these numbers came from).  The Chiang Mai % seems high since most Thais I've spoken with would not take the Sinovac / Sinopharm vaccine and were holding out for Moderna that they had paid for.

Nakhon Si Thammarat: 48.1% Chiang Mai: 63.6% Khon Kaen: 46.7% Tak: 45.9% Rayong: 61.8% Chanthaburi: 54.5%

I think being added to a watch list is warning enough. Besides, anyone going there are probably expats going home or Thais returning home.

Many travellers have been heading to Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Mai, where four districts have reopened for tourism as this year’s cold season gets underway.

It is also been reported that the first international flight will arrive in Chiang Mai this Friday (November 5th).

Only certain districts in Chiang Mai are reopening though.

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has added six more provinces to its “watch list”, in addition to the southern border provinces of Yala, Pattana, Narathiwat and Songkhla, due to concerns over a rising trend in new COVID-19 infections.

Interesting that the Covid focus turns to the deep south.
What better way to utilize 'emergency Covid powers' to keep the perceived (and actual) trouble-makers and dissidents in line.  You couldn't lock these people down in normal times - but now?  Bam!  Somchai's your uncle.

How convenient.  Never let a good 'emergency' go to waste.  Which is why "Covid" will be with us for the long-term as the power that is imparted to governments by emergency decree allows them to keep the public in check for the long-haul.  The 'emergency' may never be revoked as it's the ultimate control lever.

Yes that is high, they are nowhere near that, this gives you the breakdown of each province, it is up to date as of yesterday.

For example, Chiang Mai is only 43.8% https://covidtracker-th.netlify.app/

The link shows only 10 provinces out of 76 and roughly under 20,000,000 people out of a population of 70,000,000 . So are we only being shown the best figures ?
