Thailand on Thursday (November 4) reported 7,982 new COVID-19 cases, 8,029 recoveries and 68 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,914,561

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,799,066

 

Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,943,424 with 19,462 deaths.

 

The news comes as only six Covid-19 infections out of 4,510 tourists, a low 0.13 percent, were found in the past three days since the launch of the country reopening, Thailand’s Public Health Ministry reported November 3rd.

 

Dr. Sumanee Watcharasin, Director of Risk Communication and Health Behavior Development Bureau of the Ministry of Public Health, revealed to the Associated Press that a total of 4,510 people have entered the country on international flights since November 1st.

 

TPN media notes that different Thai officials have given different numbers in terms of arrivals of international foreign tourists, as well as different departments, over the past few days but this appears to be the most realistic estimate so far.

Why no longer putting recoveries in the title?  It is good to show that recoveries have been higher than case count day by day.

As it should be. Double jabbed maybe trippled, PCR tested (?) so you would expect low numbers. The problem lies with the Thai populace which has low vaccination rates and infections way above the 'official' numbers due to an extreme lack of testing.

Fully recovered or not is the question.

If they manupilate the cases every day than there will be more recoveries than total Covid cases......

Phuket marks 50 new COVID cases, no new deaths

 

PHUKET: The latest Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) daily COVID situation report has marked 50 new local infections confirmed across the island yesterday (Nov 3) bringing the total number of people recognised as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket since Apr 3 to 15,426.

Nice drop from the 177 cases reported on the previous day.

 

Health officials on Wednesday (Nov 3) reported 111 new COVID-19 cases, 22 were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 85 cases were found in Pranburi, 3 cases in Sam Roi Yot, No-case in Kuiburi, No-case found in Thap Sakae, N0- case in Bang Saphan, 1 case in Bang Saphan Noi, and No- case in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan, and found 2 infected aliens from fleeing to the city.

No deaths were reported today.

UPDATE: 7,982 confirmed cases, 3,001 probable cases (ATK), and 68 deaths (1.00%). Out of 97,470 patients , 42,371 are in hospital, 44,793 in hospitel and 6,800 in home/community isolation. There are 2,181 in a serious condition (-24) with 466 on ventilators (-17) #Thailand

Good to see official number of recoveries still exceeding news cases and numbers in serious condition and on ventilators continue to fall. 
 

Latest official data from the worldometer ranking table for deaths/million of population over the past 7 days, including yesterday’s numbers, shows Thailand up one place at 68in the world, 27 places below the UK.

 

Same table shows Thailand remain at 14th in Asia, 4 places below the Philippines and 4 places above Vietnam. 
 

The trend in the number of deaths over the past week is at 7 deaths/million of population, up 8% from yesterday over the 7 day period, with the number of official infections also falling 5%

Thats a good simple explanation. Thanks. Educated guess would be my thought.

Expert analysis rather than educated guess maybe? Fairly sure the folks who do this at the WHO and the Economist for example wouldn't take too kindly to someone saying you're just guessing albeit an educated guess.

The raw death counts used in calculating excess deaths are certainly not based on an educated guess, they are based on the actual deaths in a given year which are reported to WHO by the respective countries and governments, Thailand's official deaths and statistics going back to 2015 to present are here https://stat.bora.dopa.go.th/stat/statnew/statMenu/newStat/home.php and here https://github.com/owid/covid-19-data/tree/master/public/data/excess_mortality

There is no data on "number of recoveries."  They very clearly specify that they're reporting the number of people "released from care."

Nope, that's the number of people released from care.  How, in any case, could they possibly know how many people had actually "recovered?"  They have no handle whatsoever on anything going on outside the hospital (and ancillary) system.

Of the 7,828 cases in the general Thai population, the highest numbers were 827 in Bangkok followed by 497 in Songkhla, 492 in Chiang Mai, 455 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 451 in Pattani, 336 in Yala, 280 in Chonburi, 248 in Khon Kaen and 248 in Rayong.

It's pretty straightforward actually. Statisticians look at debt from previous years and figure how many debts there would be if covid hadn't occurred. Then they compare that projected total to the actual total of deaths.

Spend more time learning about what the Thai government classifies as recovered. 

 

Gf's daughter had Covid and was in the hospital.  3 weeks later she was taken off of oxygen, was doing better and healing, but not fully recovered. Yet she was released as recovered and told to isolate at home for two more weeks, and take the medication they discharged her with.......sound recovered to you, nope just recovered enough to be discharged
