PCR before travel (departure or arrival)

Featured Replies

Hello, I use to see for another countries they ask PCR test 72 hours before arrival to the destination,

But for Thailand I see somewhere you must to do the PCR test before ¿DEPARTURE? So can I do the test 72 hours before enter to the plain?

And anybody knows if they ask you the PCR test only before enter the plain? Or Immigration in Thailand can ask to see it too?

Thanks

Don't worry, they do another test when you arrive, if you test positive then you will be locked up until you test negative.

If you're sitting next to someone else who happens to test positive then you're also getting the special quarantine treatment.

Oh, and in case that's not enough - you're paying for it - and it's not cheap.

Enjoy your holiday! ????

It's my understanding that you have to take an RT-PCR test within 72 hours of your departure. Make sure it is the RT-PCR test, not any other type of PCR test. You need proof of a negative result in order to board your flight.

When you arrive in Thailand, you have to take another RT-PCR test that you must schedule and pay for through an approved hotel (e.g. SHA+ hotel) that will also include your airport transit to their hotel. If you test positive upon arrival, you will be quarantined until you recover and test negative.

As far as I know all the PCR test are RT-PCR.

As they commented in this thread too: https://aseannow.com/topic/1238704-thailand-pass-rt-pcr-test-v-pcr-test/

Thank you for that information. I suppose the main issue is making sure to receive the results before departure. Most of the places I found that deliver results within 24 hours don’t take insurance. Fortunately I found a place that takes insurance.
