I flew in & out of DMK last week. Not sure about renovations but it was modern, clean & very well presented. I don't think trying to compare the two airports is comparing apples to apples.

IMHO, Don Muang has always been better than Suvarnaphumbi

many of us have fond memories starting at Don Muang........................

I think they did renovate the domestic section at DM around 2017.

And yeah, comparing swampy with DM is like comparing potatoes with cheese crackers.

Last time I went from DM, my passport, which was registered as an e-passport in Swampy, didn't work at DM. I asked why.

"The system between airports isn't linked up yet."

Not sure if that's been fixed yet?

The domestic airport was closed years ago, and now all domestic go from Terminal 2.

The two can be compared. DM has a soul and Swampy does not. Just a sterile cement bunker full of duty free shops, most of which are now currently closed.

I can remember the old business class lounge - real colonial style with wicker chairs and things and fans on the ceiling 555. Quite liked it actually ...

I can also remember swapping the sandals I'd worn for my entire 3 months stay for my trainers just before check in to fly home where it was still winter ... real depressing ...

At Suvarnabhumi, you know about the pandemic on the international side. Lots of closed shops. At the domestic terminal, all the shops were open and as busy as it was before the pandemic.

It's really just a matter of personal choice, afterall beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The new reno at DMK is nice, bright and sterile, you can scatter glitter all over a t*rd but you can't polish it.!

For me, first time at DM (1996) I thought it was a hole, certainly with no soul, but where are there nice/friendly airports.?

Look at what's out there, LHR (Heathrow) what a mess and their new T5 is just a giant box. CDG (Roissey) another mess, even with the camembert. LAX - JFK - DFW crass concrete commercialism. FRA (Frankfurt) a string of concrete boxes. KUL (Kuala Lumpur) a train to the international terminal or two concrete tunnels for the low cost terminal AMS (Amsterdam) what another mess and BKK (swampy) certainly sell sell sell.!

Perhaps SIN (Changi) and MEL (Tullermarine) are not as bad as most.

But really, these are just places to transit through, would any of us by choice go the any airport other than to fly in or out of somewhere or meet someone arriving.?

What are your thoughts, does anyone have a favourite airport, and/or what do you think is the worst and why.?
