Popular Post webfact
Picture: Daily News A leading figure in the world of business in Thailand cautioned against over-reaction after the first case of the Omicron Covid-19 variant was found in Thailand. It was in a US national who had travelled to Thailand from Spain and was announced Monday. Federation of Thai Industries chairman Suphan Monkholsri called for calm and implored the authorities not to employ a knee-jerk reaction and close the country again, reported Daily News. He said that at this time there were signs of economic recovery and a new closure could be disastrous. He called for calm and a measured and sensible reaction in terms of test and trace and ensuring that the vaccination program continues at full speed. Popular Post klauskunkel
What cracks me up is the PM earlier telling the Thai people "not to panic" over Omicron, and now this business leader is basically telling the PM not to panic himself. Calm down, jai yen-yen Prayut!
Popular Post wombat
the way omicron is shaping up (no deaths yet) it could be the variant that marks the change where it starts to breed itself out of existence like SARS did...the accounts of people that have it say its no more than a mild cold. i hope that is correct. 4 2

GrandPapillon
and the good news start coming from Europe, apparently Covid cases have reached a plateau and should start decreasing next week, so panic didn't solve anything at the end 1

Would seem to be the sensible way to go. But lets hope it's not another Delta scenario in which we were always told was under control...
Popular Post ukrules
The fact that this guy is making this statement suggests to me that he has heard what's coming and he doesn't like it one bit. I suspect the government will panic at the first opportunity and lock down the entire country / close the borders again regardless of whether it offers any benefit at all.
rainham
Well that's ok then, if a leading figure in the world of business says let's not panic over the latest Covid mutation i won't. Tbh I was <deleted>ting myself before he said that

In London no body cares, everyone has been vaccinated and the ones that ain't are in intensive care dying because they refused the vaccine on the grounds that they are imbeciles ???????? 2 2

I have many family and friends in and around London who have opted to think for themselves and not be part of the herd and get vaccinated. It's a personal choice. Neither are they in Intensive care, sick or dying. Why preach such nonsense??. <deleted> get a grip !!

Give it time, early days, friends and family might just regret those choices!! South African's have high numbers of unvaccinated with cases doubling daily “JOHANNESBURG — Some South Africa hospital wards are jammed with patients infected with the omicron coronavirus variant as President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans on Monday to get vaccinated. At this time, we think about 75% to 80% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated," https://www.voanews.com/a/south-africa-readies-hospitals-as-omicron-variant-drives-new-covid-19-wave-/6340912.html That said, we haven't seen the number of death's yet which will eventually prove or disprove how deadly this variant is. Hopefully as the optimists say, it will just be another flu type virus we will learn to live with. Apart from the unvaccinated that will probably die or be seriously ill costing governments billions and overwhelming the NHS.. just saying... SiSePuede419
Smart Thai industry leader. Omicron is highly transmissible, but mild symptoms. The virus was smart enough to add a snippet of cold virus DNA to itself, that is also part of human DNA. That's right. Human DNA contains DNA from viruses and bacteria. That's why it's more transmissible. Our immune system thinks it's a human cell. Edited December 7, 2021 by SiSePuede419
spidermike007
To date, the new variant has been proven to be nothing more than a pimple on the cheek of a teenager. How many proven deaths yet? Mild symptoms. So, let's maintain some perspective. Panic and alarm at this stage is silly. It may be a step in the less virulent stage of this pain in the *** virus. tomacht8
Knee-jerk reactions describes many of the actions of the Uncle Tu government perfectly. If clear heads with a reasonable management education would run the country, many Thais would be better off.

All on top of 81% double jabbed.
