Only implied porn, but the music VDO from Love Actually might cheer you up.

I'm already happy, sentimentality wont increase it. Causality forms the paths you have walked on, are walking on, will walk on, it is up to consciousness to master what occurs on the way. If you need a chrismassy film, that is causal, if you don't, that is also causal. Sentimentality is a holiday from the shadowy side of life, I am permanently on holiday without it.

This silly thing manages to find our house every year....

I like it, but watched it one too many times.

Already watched "Home Alone 2" in November. Planning on watching "Home Alone 3" on Christmas, also "Last Christmas" with Emilia Clarke. Perhaps dusting off "Die Hard", as it has been a while that I last watched it. (But might go for "Jingle All the Way" instead.) - Basically, rotating movies every two or three years...

Sir Seymour Hicks in the '35 film Scrooge rivals that of Alastair Sim's character of '51.  The full movie is available on YouTube.

FYI, I just came across a digitally remastered, colorised version of this classic Christmas film on TPB.  I just watched the movie two nights ago and after previewing this colorised version I'll be watching it again.  While the quality of this digital restoration is certainly not pristine it is a remarkable and enjoyable improvement.

I like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.

Yep Die Hard is the best Christmas movie ever.

If Die Hard, instead of being set to a Christmas party, was set to barbecues, American flags, and firework displays folks would be saying it was the greatest 4th of July movie ever.

If Die Hard, instead of being set to a Christmas party, was set to Easter bunnies and egg hunts folks would be saying it was the greatest Easter movie ever.

If Die Hard, instead of being set to a Christmas party, was set to pumpkins, witches and ghouls, and kids trick or treating folks would be saying it was the greatest Halloween movie ever.

Personally, given that Die Hard is nothing more than a blood and guts movie (cause there hasn't yet been a single advocate of Die Hard being a Christmas movie who can show anything about that movie that is actually representative of what Christmas stands for (and it ain't the paraphernalia)), and given the quantity of blood spilt I think it's a much closer fit to Halloween slasher movies.

Thinking just a little, tiny bit deeper I've always been of the opinion that calling reality something that it's not does not lead to good places. Call me crazy or old fashioned but . . .  And perhaps, just perhaps, the world is going to find out just where that type of misrepresentation leads to in a big way in the not distant future.  For much of the world is living in a bizarre, made-up reality which has no basis in actual reality; where everyone is trying to fool everyone else that boys are girls and girls are boys and so much other nonsense.

So I'll end this diatribe with a fitting quote by Ayn Rand:  “We can ignore reality, but we cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.”

The British Christmas classic The Holly And The Ivy (1952).  I don't think anyone got shot, blown up, had their throat cut or been thrown off the top of a skyscraper so it might not be a Christmas movie for everyone.

The puking emoticon is my opinion of the movie.  No offense should be taken if another's opinion doesn't agree.

The last part was sincere..  If the movie gives someone joy then good on them.  And a Merry Christmas to ya.  That's not being facetious.

Far and away my fav is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

Lost count how many times I must have watched it, but still gives me belly laughs even though I probably know the entire dialogue.

My wife rolls her eyes and calls me her 'man child' for liking this stuff, but who cares, she's just married to me!

One of the latest versions of A Christmas Carol from 2020.

"A radical animated retelling of the holiday classic that starts with a Victorian performance of the Charles Dickens tale before diving into the imagination of one of the children in the audience, taking the story to a darker fantasy realm."

It's an accurate reading of Dicken's novella (skipping quite a few bits throughout) but in narration form, including the spoken lines.  The characters in the film do not speak.  An interesting artistic film, to be sure.

The British / American historical drama film set around the Christmas of 1183, The Lion In Winter (1968), starring Peter O'toole, Kathrine Hepburn, and a very young Anthony Hopkins in his first major role.  The movie won 3 Oscars with Hepburn winning her 3rd Best Actress Oscar.

"Love Actually", is a favourite of mine, and I may well watch it again over the next few days.

I don't think I've ever watched Elf, or National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, so they will be on the list as well.

If we all agreed it would make for very short threads.

I loved "Love Actually" when it first came out, but last time I watched it the only character I liked was the old rocker/ letcher played by Bill Nighy.

Last night I watched my favourite Christmas movie "My Christmas Love" ( I hate the title ) and loved every soppy sentimental romantic minute of it. Pretty girls, no violence, happy ever after ending- what's not to like for a bit of Christmas escape from real life time?

Anybody with small kids?  Or is there a kid still within you?  A Charlie Brown Christmas (1966).  I'd find a good download before I watched the miserable quality available on YT.

Not sure about this movie yet as I haven't seen it (I still have 5 more nights to watch it).  It's a Disney movie so it should be a lock for entertainment value.  The cinematography seems stunning.  Anyone seen it yet?

The Nutcracker And The Four Realms (2018)

Another movie I haven't seen yet is Fanny And Alexander (1982).  While I generally like spirited and heartwarming Christmas movies from the trailer the movie seems to involve a lot of psychodrama.  Again, any recommendations on this movie from the overflowing hoards of folks following this thread?

I have. Usual overly PC Disney production, but as I recollect I didn't hate it so it must have been OK. Visually rich cinematography, and of course excellent production values.

No reason not to watch it.

Thanks, TBL.  And Merry Christmas to ya.

I tend to shy away from newer Christmas movies due to the severe case of wokeness in liberal Glittertown.  I did notice in the trailer a couple of token blacks.  Any LBGTQ&^@%&++++?  LOL
