Thailand's overall COVID-19 caseload continued to decline on Sunday, with health officials again reporting another drop in new cases.

On Sunday, Thailand reported 3,787 new COVID-19 cases, 5,606 recoveries and 20 deaths.

The number of daily new cases is approximately half that of those reported exactly one month previously.

Sunday's stats bring the number of new cases found in Thailand since the start of the pandemic to 2,168,646, while 2,095,859 people have made full recoveries.

The overall death toll stands at 21,171.

It's great what they've done, but it's all going to seem pointless when omicron arrives, regarding case numbers at least.  Fingers crossed this variant proves to be milder than delta, otherwise Thailand will be in the harshest of lockdowns Chinese style, because the nation rightly or wrongly has no stomach for living with covid19, as say in the UK.

I guess I am a bit confused as to how we can ALWAYS have more recoveries than new cases.

Nice to see another drop from 77 previously reported. Let's hope this is a trend for the future.

Health officials on Saturday (Dec 11) reported 66 new COVID-19 cases, 20 of which were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 23 cases were found in Pranburi, 1 case in Sam Roi Yot, 1 case in Kuiburi, 1 case in Thap Sakae, 5 cases in Bang Saphan, 2 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 14 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Two more deaths were reported today: An 83 year old Dutch national in Hua Hin who had no underlying health conditions and a 63 year old Thai national in Prachuap Khiri Khan who had an underlying health condition.

Likely because it corresponds more or less to the number of people tested positive two weeks before.
