New tyres for N-max needed

Featured Replies

It's that time!

Rear tyre especially looking a little needy.

I'm looking for EXPERIENCED recommendations for good tyres and a place to fit them to my Yamaha Nmax. Preferably in Patong but willing to travel in search of good product and service.

How old is your front tire. A good thumb or rule is to change both at same time, and especially if your rubber is more than 3 years old running, and 4 years since production date. I'm sure some agree, and some would disagree. My two cents

Not sure on sizing but I use Pirelli Angel scooter tyres on my ADV150. These tyres seem a favourite with Grab and Motorsy drivers too. Most good motorcycle shops should either stock them or be able to supply. Definitely keep away from cheap no brand name tyres for a bike. Agree with Hummin - replace both tyres at same time and if more than 3 years old.

I have an Nmax 155 and I use the same tyres than my Yamaha shop

IRC, after 25000 kms, very good

Agreed, got Pirelli's put on my Forza, totally different feel when riding the bike, great tyres, wish I had done it sooner!

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, definitely replacing both tyres.

Researched the two brands and models suggested and they do come up consistently top.

As for the Yamaha originals, meh.

Over many years I have found Pirelli and Michelin to be superior tires for a scooter.

I'm also very happy with the original fits on my Aerox. I wouldn't bother 'experimenting' with other makes.

I'm quite sure that the designers and test riders spent a lot of time evaluating tyre designs to make sure that the type they chose are fit for purpose.

I'm quite sure they do evaluate many tires. I'm also sure that in the end they choose the cheapest fitting option.

As long as those tyres are reliable and up to the job I see no problem with that. And my judgement, after 2 years riding on them, that they are.

And let's face it these are scooters we're talking about, not some track bred superbike.

That you get 25 000 km out of your tyre, doesnt say anything about their grip and the friction it gives you on dry, wet or sand. I find often stock tires to be to hard, which gives you less friction under conditions you need good grip as when wet or sand on the road.

They specialise in motorcycle tires, near the original Tesco's, get my big bike tyre's done there.

Well they were disappointing!

Don't have Pirelli Angel or Michelin City Grip 2, didn't want to order them and then quoted 5,500thb for another model from Pirelli but in the wrong wheel sizes?????

Jeez, what a bunch!
