The Royal Thai Police has ordered 80,000 police officers to not take leave during the New Year holiday period between Christmas Day on 25th December and January 4th, to facilitate people travelling home and the estimated 7 million cars leaving and returning to Bangkok.

This year it is expected that, from December 29th to January 4th, 1 million more vehicles will travel in and out of the capital than the year before.

People making their way back after the New Year break will experience the greatest traffic volume on January 3rd, therefore all traffic police units will work together to map out and inform the travelling public of alternate routes, bypasses and shortcuts. Construction sites are to speed up the restoration of road surfaces, to be completed by December 25th, 2021.

70 million cars, well that equates to around 70% of the population... presuming one per car, far higher than a recent poll which stated most Thais would stay home?

Does that iinclude those 'inactive deska'  Still, a pretty large number of BIB in Bangkok.

I didn't know there were enough donut shops in Bangers to support this number of BIB's.  I forecast a supply side shortage and consequential inflationary pressure.

Well, it will allow Somchai in uniform to replenish to New Year's bonus with little contributions and gifts by all those drunk drivers - keep up the good work!
