Month after month of shutdowns and restrictions on travellers worked really well, didn't it? Apparently not, as some seem to be advocating the same policies all over again.

 

By all reports, Omicron causes mild symptoms especially in the fully vaccinated, so why not try accelerating vaccinations and stop these policies that seem to achieve nothing but further economic destruction.

 

I would have said different a year or more ago, but the situation in late 2021 is not the same as the situation in 2020. Stop fighting last year's battle.

aghh the omnicron quagmire,firstly thai govt doesnt do mass testing so we cant know the extent by any means of whats actually going on .only that its a lot higher than what they say!!why?racism yes accountability yes,corruption yes,arrogance and self importance ohhhh yeeeees.its already ripping thru the realm!.but we r all familiar with this menu so no need to go over ploughed ground.whats next?look at S Afrika,consistent data saying the same thing and grounded experts not budding tv stars and buddies in big pharma.they state if youve 2 vaccs,the real ones, not the made in wuhan ones, your good to go,lets do that then!symptoms are very mild so....its a way outta jail.it could be within a few weeks the world is in a better place ,i hope so.i think so.why?this strain will replace the deadlier ones and a cold 3 or 4 days as the info from SA tells us and we are immune and back in the game....of life.will the wizards of washington and big pharma let us off the hook though thats the bigger question or will they continue to play the game of money for the drug companies and power to .....well not the people but we think we know where the power lies.all will be revealed shortly by our gods and masters, those of the donned white coats.

Ah, the temperature scanners! I think I'd change 'largely redundant' to "complete and total waste of time'. They're like those ridiculous plastic face shields that some people wear. Make sense in an OR or a dentist's chair; pointless in a department store. 

 

There should be a TV sweepstakes for who's recorded the lowest temperature on one of those scanners. 29.3 C for me.

If this is the less dangerous but more transmissive variant isn't it a good opportunity to let it loose and let people get some real antibodies. At 1% death rate or something covid is already low death rate so this must be less than 1%.

It's been 2 years of lockdowns, dead businesses, suicides, travel bans unemployment and there is still covid in the world. Time to live with it.

Look at any aussie news website like abc or nine and most of the stories on the home pages are covid. Stop jamming it down our throats and let's get on with life.

You are misinformed. 

Covid 19 vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing infections. They are, however, highly effective at preventing serious illness and death.  Fully vaccinated people can still get infected. These are called breakthrough infections. And those who get them WILL BE contagious, and can infect others.

Effectiveness for covid 19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) range from 51 to 96%. So hypothetically, depending on which vaccine(s) you received, you have a 4 to 49% 'opportunity' to have a breakthrough infection. Add to that the decreased vaccine effectiveness over time, age and sex factors, and new, possibly more virulent covid 19 variants; and protections provided by being initially "fully vaccinated" are not what you may think they are. The boosters are needed for more reasons than just to make some people richer. 

My point:  

VACCINATED is not equal to COMPLETELY SAFE!

Safer regarding reducing risk of infection, severity of disease, hospitalization, and/or death: YES!

Completely safe from the above, and from infecting others if you get a breakthrough infection?: NO!

As much as people like to complain in this forum (myself included), the Health Ministry has come a long way in managing the pandemic and I do believe they are better prepared now than when they were caught flat footed at the start. The vaccine issue has disappeared. The organisation of a work force of normal hardworking Thai people who go out every day and grind, be that administering booster shots to a large population or picking up multiple patients per day in ambulances or caring for Thai's and expats a like and keeping up on all the administration and organisation .... its a huge and thankless task. They deserve credit.

Utter rubbish !, you can still catch it and still pass it on, (speaking from experience) your symptoms will be milder but dangerous to others, regular testing is essential.

Some posters think that Omicron is just like a regular flu, well think hard, do you get the regular flu 

every single year?  I certainly have not had bad flus every year, but with the Omicron being so contagious

I'm more worried about our two young children.

 

Omicron is showing that its effecting younger children worse.

It is been shown that Omicron is a milder flu like illness.

Let it spread and and complete a herd immunity scenario.

I had three family members w the covid, and they had very mild to lay in bed for five days sickness…now walking around just fine. The premise that we are all to die from this is false!

Instead of this useless testing that they do (as you can contract the illness immediately AFTER a negative test), they should test people for natural antibodies and see if they are protected. Why inject yourself with the antibody when you may naturally have it from a possible asymptomatic exposure  There should be a choice of an antibody test or covid test and vaccines.

At this point with the non lethal Omicron, I really think this is a huge overreaction by the CDC and governments. They are throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. 4 shots!??? Cmon already!

Masks?! While riding a motorbike and at the beaches? Cmon people get real!

Obviously if a person is vulnerable they should get protected as much as possible, but to mandate the healthy to uncompromising and illogical actions is really unjust.

1. Let Omicron complete herd immunity.

2. Test for your antibodies in liu of a vaccine mandate, you may already be protected.

3. Release us from these crazy masks

4. If you are afraid or vulnerable at this point, vaccinate, stay inside, order in, have home delivery until herd immunity is acheived….and oh, stock up on those Pfizer amd Merk pills $$$!

 

I was a “believer” in the fear, but now w the mild Omicron have turned into a common sense “lets get over it already” for the healthy.
