Back to some rockin' rock 'n' roll, rising from No. 28 to No. 23, Just Like Me by Paul Revere & The Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay.

Another meteoric rise, and I don't know why, from No. 57 all the way up to No. 24, The Men In My Little Girl's Life by Mike Douglas (not the actor).  Unless you're chronically sentimental for the 60's you can skip hitting play on this one.

A slight drop from No. 23 to No. 25, It's My Life by The Animals.

To cover just a few of the newcomers just arriving on the charts, at No. 100 is Baby Come On Home by Solomon Burke.  I predict this is sure to rise.

California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas enters in at the No. 99 slot.

Getting a foothold at No. 98 is Michelle by The Beatles David & Jonathan.

Coming in at No. 97, I Can't Believe You Love Me by Tammi Terrell.

Also poppin' in on the charts at No. 96, another cover of Michelle, this time by Billy Vaughn And His Orchestra.  The Beatles cover due to arrive later in the year.

I doubt this fine tune made it across the pond, landing for the first time at the No. 94 slot, Giddyup Go by Red Sovine.

Only 3 newcomers to go . . .

The No. 91 slot was filled by I'm Too Far Gone (To Turn Around) by Bobby Bland.

Skipping the 90's and immediately heading to the No. 88 slot, Rainbow '65 (Part I) by Gene Chandler.

And the final newcomer, jumping in at No. 81, is Call Me by Chris Montez.

When this song ends you can open your eyes again and think to yourself, where'd it all go?

Tippers is on one of his binges. There's many a gem in his contributions but it's gonna take a while to get through them.

In the meantime, Janis was born on this day.

As was Robert Palmer

Happy Birthday Dolly, a great introduction to the song!

Tom Petty: Cover version of "Oh, Well". It's very hard to compete with the original by Peter Green and Danny Kirwan? Still pretty good IMHO and worth a watch.

Here's my contribution to Janis' birthday (hat tip GammaGlobulin).  The mezmerising and emotional performance of Ball & Chain live at the Monterey Pop Festival on it's 2nd day, June 17, '67.

Another hat tip to GammaGlobulin for supplying this excellent cover of Piece Of My Heart by Christina Vierra and The Ryan Rehm Band.  As I mentioned on another thread, It takes balls to cover Janis on vocals.

And now a few tunes I stumbled across on today.  This will be the only other posts I make to give time to digest yesterday's overload.

Irma Thomas with her '64 B-side single Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand).  What a great tune.  So sorry to think that stuff like this has almost disappeared.

Another Irma Thomas song, Straight From The Heart, off of her '64 Wish Someone Would Care LP.

More than just worth a watch, Mutt Daeng.  Worth a download.  Yeah, I don't think any cover could best the original but Petty's vocals were surprisingly a pretty good fit.

The Yardbirds: Heart Full of Soul

I hate it when I lie.

I had commented not long ago about the stroke of luck Mayall had to have had two of the best guitarists of the 60's in his band.  The Yardbirds bested him, though.

Clapton from '63~'65, replaced by Beck from '65 to '68 on the recommendation of session guitarist Page, who himself was a member from '66~'68.

Stroll On featuring Beck on lead guitar and Page on 2nd lead, a bonus track on the reissued '65 Having A Rave Up With The Yardbirds.

Stroll On, the song, not to be confused with Stroll On the '74 album by Steve Ashley.

Stroll On, not to be confused with the similarly sounding Train Kept A Rollin' by Tiny Bradshaw in '51, and covered so wonderfully by Aerosmith on their '74 Get Your Wings LP.
