Khanom police in Nakhon Sri Thammarat in southern Thailand were called after a collision between a Mercedes Benz and two motorcycles.

They found a dead colleague at the scene. He was Pol Capt Praphat Malithip, aged 42, who was on his way to get food after midnight.

Also dead at the scene was a lady called Amornrat, 31.

Sarawut,34, was taken to hospital and is out of danger.

The driver of the Benz was waiting at the scene to surrender.

He was breath tested and found to be over the limit and was charged with vehicular homicide and other serious offences.

He is the wealthy owner of a raft area rented for fishing. He admitted to being out drinking then losing control of his car, according to the Thai Rath report.

Police said their colleague was driving one of the motorcycles and the man who survived the other. It was not yet sure who the dead woman was riding with.

Funeral rites for the dead policeman - a local man - began yesterday afternoon following his death in the previous night.

Nothing will happen to him.
He will help the RTP paying off their massive debts and continue his life as usual.
His car will be fixed by the insurance.

First thoughts, the driver acted correctly, maybe a tragic accident and he accepts his wrongdoing, second thought, he is rich and probably very influential so why worry.

Still, he doesn't seem to have the same sakdina as the Red Bull scion looking at what they've charged him with ...

Sure about that ???.... Insurance always pays for damage in Thailand....  this further enables the drink drivers to continuing doing what they want with limited or no risk of consequence.

March 2017

"The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) announced today that Motorists caught driving when drunk will soon find they are not covered by insurance firms in cases of accidents.

With the revised rule, a BAC result of more than 50mg per cent means drink driving, and the driver will not be covered for accidents, he said."

Let's hope he is soon to be the unwealthy owner of a communal prison cell for 20 years

I doubt it as money talks in Thailand. Look at how it worked for the Death Island Myanmar boys or the Red Bull kid.
