Thai Rath reported on a murder and attempted murder of two construction contractors in Muang Chonburi yesterday.

 

Police found Saraporn, 49, from Khon Kaen dead from a stab wound to the left side of the chest. 

 

Witthaya, her 42 year old husband from Sa Kaeo, had been stabbed multiple times but was rushed to hospital still alive.

 

An 8 inch knife was recovered.

 

The assailant was 41 year old Bunma, a construction worker from Mahasarakham. 

 

He said he had gone to see the couple who had hired him for two days work at 500 baht a day but had not paid him.

 

He said that they refused to pay him and hit him first making him furious.

 

He then used a knife he had brought with him.

 

Police charged him with murder.

withholding a 1,000 baht you lost the missus and get yourself badly injured.

Very sad that this small amount of money has lead to a death.

A couple of years ago a taxi driver in Bangkok killed an American in a dispute over 100 baht. It's more about face than money, probably. Nothing is more important than face to a Thai.

For a guy doing manual labor at 500 a day, when he can get it,  that 1000 baht is a pretty big sum of money.
