Popular Post ThailandRyan
Very sad indeed. RIP to the grandmother and condolences to the family. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the kids and grandfather. With the truck left and the driver running you have to expect the possibility he was either drunk, unlicensed or better yet as they try in the US, "no sir my truck was here all night, what its gone from my driveway well then it must have been stolen.". Time that the police here did their jobs and arrested these people and the government then prosecuted the individual. 9
Popular Post CelticBhoy
"The driver of the pick-up had fled the scene and is being sought." No doubt he'll be hiding at his mummy's house. These types usually need an apron to hide under. 4

Thats true, but it is the common method used here and no one is ever stopped from doing it. It is also why the numbers killed is so high. You see it all the time with Grandpa/Dad driving with one kid standing in front of him, with two more sandwiched between the driver and grandma/mom. instead of making two trips to go just down the road they all pile on and unfortunately accidents occur. Lets hope they find the driver soon. 11
tonray
It seems doing a runner is nathional pastime in Thailand when it comes to road accidents. GF's new car has been run into twice in the past year by Motos and both times the guys got up back on the bike and you guessed it....did a runner. She even snapped a photo of one of them who took off her side mirror as he passed by....but local police did nothing....not worth their effort without a suggested donation which she refused. 2

That's true, with 5 on the bike the back light (if it had one ) was sure to be covered. I think what most posters are disgusted with , is his actions after the accident. Who knows who would have survied if he had stayed to help, and called it in immediately.

Popular Post Lite Beer
Yet more "responsible" adults who think nothing of putting their kids/grand kids lives at risk. It would only be doable if she had a picture of the motorcycle numberplate. Plus the guy could deny it unless the actual accident was on camera. It would be no different in my country, you might call it lazy but how would you try to get the evidence round a cop. If he denies it what then ? and how to trace without a numberplate (if there was a numberplate then it would still be her word against his) unless of course on cam. But yes so many on a bike is not a responsible thing to do. However its a bit harsh judging those who have less money. You should condemn the driver of the pickup truck who might or might not have been drunk but definately did a runner. Something that is far worse in my opinion. Yet you hear farangs always talking about not stopping as it is dangerous. 5

But in general i think it means they don't agree with your post. 3

My Wife's daughter and partner carry their 2 year old standing on the front of the bike even though they have one of those 3 wheel bikes that would at least be a bit more stable. I am always have a go at them but they look at me as though I am mad. Same as kids sitting on a mother's lap in the passenger seat of a car. A child safety seat does not cost much. You just cannot fix stupid.

Its a bit harsh to judge them on how much money they have. But yes some precautions could certainly be taken.

The family living opposite me, however, have 2 cars and 2 young children and yet choose to take them to school on a motorbike. This involves a U- turn on a 4 lane highway also. I don't like to see it, but as the wife says "up to them".

cardinalblue
Why is this sad? My friends think that I am stupid as I always stop when I see an accident to see if I can help. On three of those occasions, the local gawkers have tried to blame me. To the extent that the police came to my house. Luckily witnesses or 'forensics' showed that there was no case each time.
