I am considering having a dental tooth implant  as the tooth is too worn for a crown.

I don’t know anyone who has ever had this procedure and am interested in any feedback on problems etc.

I have always been happy with the dental treatment received here and it has been as good as any treatment in Australia, except considerably cheaper.

I have had several implants here with good results.  !/3 the cost at my home country.  The other option is a bridge, which don't seem to last as long.  The implant procedure can take some time with extraction, possible bone graft, healing, etc. take a few months.  Cost in the 50,000 b range give or take.

Whilst living in Thailand i have had 3 (i think ) the last was implanted around 3 years ago  ; the fact i am not sure how many  is a good sign, and i would be hard pushed to point out which (of my teeth)  were implants if asked. No issues beyond a month or two of settling down.

   All  were done at Thantakit All Seasons Place, which is my regular dentist.

From experience and , from what i have read, i would say;

   1) get it done at a quality dental surgery by an experienced implant specialist.

   2) upper teeth tend to be more likely to cause issues than lower; mainly because of the risk of the implant piercing into a sinus cavity.

  3) dont bother  trying to replace back molars, not worth the effort. 

 

Yes, I had a dental implant completed about 9 years ago in Pattaya (Dentist@Beach in Central Festival).

 

At that time I paid 40,000 baht.  

 

I had the tooth extracted already in the USA but when I saw the cost in the USA, 150,000 baht at the time, I decided to look at Thailand, as I had read some threads on Dentist in Pattaya Addicts.

 

I had one visit to put the post in and take the mold for the tooth.  

 

I had zero pain.  I was very pleased.

 

Then 6 months later I returned and they put the tooth in.

 

Since then I still have no problems.

just do it..there's nothing to it. new tooth implant will be good for 20 years and much stronger than any of your other teeth.I had 4 done in one session. Costs $700 in the Philippines but at least $2000 in the US. it's your choice

pretty good dentists in Thailand , from my experience, as good or better than eg the UK

Even if there's not much left of the tooth, another option is for the dentist to put in a pin/screw and build a crown around it.

 

My procedure took eight months for a lower, rear molar and cost 48 000 baht.

 

I was offered three price options and chose the highest.

 

This was done in Isaan about one year ago.

The one thing to keep in mind is that if you are a smoker...the success rate is lower..... I have 3 two lower and one upper, all done at the same time.....they are wonderful...the only discomfort was for a few days of swelling immediately afterwards...then 4 months and on went the crowns....feel great

That was the gold standard RCT/PIN crown but if too much tooth decayed/lost is not an option and since implants have become available not in the same league (although still a cheaper and more immediate option in most cases).  But once below gum line believe much less a viable option.
