I can see no reason why they shouldn't have to experience they same tedious, soul-destroying hell as the rest us-marriage..

It's not required to do. It's about equality in choices.

Correct, even without a legal document.

OK.

How about this then.

No marriage allowed except for same sex.

After all it doesn't matter yeah.

Marriage is the only adventure open to the cowardly. Voltaire

I wonder what would happen if they stripped the rights of a heterosexual marriage, as they have now.. wife/husband dead.. you are not family so no rights. Your partner in a hospital, you can't anything because you are no family, just a few things you don't need to worry about.. but samesex couples  have to accept??

Fine with me, then I have another reason why I don't marry. Not that I need another reason because I won't marry.

Oh we would get used to it and adapt and adopt other legal mechanisms to cater to all our needs.

Hetero here, but it does seem a bit ironic Thailand being behind on this, beens as they’re generally accepting of anything goes, at a societal level at least. Perhaps face at play, but more bureaucratic silliness. Actually looking at a map (below), Asia in general is behind along with the usual suspects where freedom is an issue.

Appears that Valentine's Day is a political conduit as well.

It's all about the love.

Of course it is.

The love is real, the legality is lacking.

Right wing military governments aren’t known for their liberal ideas, despite the fact that most of the population wouldn’t have an issue with equal marriage rights

Nonsense

It obviously depends on the specific men and women. That said, a lot of homophobia is rooted in disgust. I find eating balut disgusting but if you want to eat it, enjoy!

What seems to be open minds with people such as Ladyboys being well accepted in society here, I don't get the issue with this.

Thailand is actually very conservative. Its one of the most religious countries in the world. Look beyond the superficial.
