TAT upbeat in Phuket: Sandbox has attracted 327,000 "foreigners" spending 55,000 baht/trip

Featured Replies

One of my friends just entered Thailand via Phuket, as he wanted the better freedom for his 5 days

before heading to his final destination for the rest of his vacation.  It did cost him more, but he said

it was better than sitting in some hotel for the 5 days somewhere else.

He also says he will not go back to Thailand again for 5 years, if the rules are still in existance

in November.  LOS to him is Land Of Scams.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of how many returning ex-pats, long term visa holders with connections to Thailand, Thai folks, businessmen, and others are factored into these numbers. Surely, the real tourists represent a smaller portion of this conjured up figure.

That's great you think you have cash like this to burn.  I'm sure you felt like a boss.   But consider how you ruin things for the average guy. I've said it before.  Guys who don't make taxis put the meter on and just pay whatever are the reason it's still a problem today.

And ditto for all the schmucks who pay bribes and "tips" to corrupt immigration officers.
