You can't step into a Boxing ring without the skills to Box you will be knocked out immediately. Throwing conscripts into a war zone with little experience mm little wonder the Russians are running away to avoid the call up.

Apparently some of the conscripts still receive some sort of training first, but it seems that most of them are shipped off to the front right away and thrown to the lions.

An interesting view on how Ukraine can win the war.

I didn't watch the whole thing but Idisagree with his contention that  because there will be a million more Russians to face, that will necessarily entail higher ukrainian casualties. There's going to be a million more Russian soldiers with very low morale and very little training. It seems more likely that they will depress morale even further and when they come under fire I think they'll run for it or surrender. It takes a lot of training to pound at least some of the fear out of a recruit and replace it with knowledge.

I watch Jakes videos and mostly agree with him but also in this case

it will all depend on what happens when the new soldiers are being deployed.

Will they all start running towards Ukrainian soldiers throwing rocks

or are they just ready to surrender en masse?

With a few 100 000 badly equipped soldiers moving towards the front will the Ukrainian soldiers just blast them away?

My bet is on massive internal Russian unrest in combination with too much pressure on the little P man.

So far an average of 500 dead russian soldiers a day? This could multiply very fast in the next few weeks. Two weeks of training is not going to do a lot of good.

Nuclear doctrine would apply to annexed areas

Lavrov pledges 'full protection' for any territory annexed by Russia

After a possible annexation of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine, the Russian nuclear doctrine would also apply to the annexed areas. This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the UN in New York. The doctrine justifies a nuclear strike in response to an attack that "threatens the continued existence of the state."

Or as NATO would put it, Use a nuke, get a nuke back in your face.

It seems a certainty Ukraine will attempt to regain the by Russia annexed territory. So let's hope a nuke attack is required before Russia attacks with a nuke.

If any members have watched a good film Enemy at the Gates there is a scene wher a commanding officer in the Russian army fighting for Stalingrad yells anyone running away will be shot. Never caught the full news item but i got any Troops not wanting to fight will be dealt with severely. Wonder how they will feel facing battle-hardened Ukrainian forces.

That movie also has a scene where any Russians trying to retreat were machine gunned. They were only given one rifle between ( I think ) 2 soldiers, so the one behind picked up the rifle after the first was shot.

'WAR CRIMINAL' Police investigate pro-Putin Brit who taunted Ukraine PoWs in videos following their capture

The Met’s War Crimes Team are probing YouTube propagandist Graham Phillips, who interrogated Aiden and accused him of being a mercenary.

Phillips, 43, originally from Nottingham, uploaded his 44-minute verbal assault of handcuffed Aiden, 28, who was injured and distressed in jail in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine.

MPs said he breached the Geneva Convention which bars filming designed to “humiliate” PoWs.

BREAKING: Eyewitnesses and local sources report that the Russian military has arrived at the border with Georgia and are starting to set up a checkpoint. This is reportedly to stop the outflow of military age men

if they want this checkpoint to last, they will have brought some heavy vehicles and at least a company of infantry.

I'm not sure they've got the resources left to cover all their borders.

HELSINKI (Reuters) - Almost 17,000 Russians crossed the border into Finland during the weekend, an 80% rise from a week earlier, Finnish authorities said on Monday, as the influx of people continued in the wake of Russia's announcement of military mobilisation.

There may be more cases like this one on the frontline. Officers may be more likely to be killed by their own troops who don't want to die, rather than by the enemy.
