Popular Post Hummin
If I was not settled here with farm, motorbikes, car and gf, I could have left the country since this would have been the last nail in the coffin. we all know by now where Thailand is going, and that is not with the west. This is an warning to all of us for the future sake of our retirement here in Thailand. They choose China and Russia above the West! Pathetic and cowardly I believe this is the first negative post about Thailand I have so far written on this fora! johncat1
Thailand will not rush to condemn Russia over Ukraine, but will they be sympathetic and supportive to all the Russian tourists and Russian ex pats ? Who are in Thailand and can't pay their bills because their credit cards and bank accounts have been frozen. Also as flights have also been banned to Russia how will these people return home? Popular Post Sig
War can be complicated, but sometimes it's pretty obvious when one side is acting like an insane murderous maniac. This Foreign Minister is a fool.

After all, they didn't "rush" to condemn Japan in December 1941, they simply threw open the doors and said, 'Sawatdee Nipoon', please enjoy a nice long stay here. Some might call this approach realpolitik, but most people have another word for it. They were a fascist dictatorship under Phibun back then so no surprise. The government would have been very sympathetic to the Japanese. Also explains why all the atrocities committed against other Asians and POWs happened on their soil. Singaporeans still remember Thais for this. It appears that some of those tendencies and sympathies are still much alive among the inadequates.
Sig
1 hour ago, Pabs said: Totally Agree, good to see Thailand with taking a common sense approach. Western leaders are pathetic and weak and have only their own interested at stake. Just remember the west unsettled the entire Arabic world over notions of weapons of mass destruction that didnt even exist. I'd like to see how consistent you would remain in that opinion if China decided to invade Thailand and indiscriminately bomb Bangkok, Udon Thani, Chiangmai, Phuket, Pattaya, etc. It doesn't matter what "western leaders" did with the Arabic world. That has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand. Trying to formulate such an opinion to support murdering terrorists because other people who you don't like did it to somebody else in a different part of the world over different issues is a very bizarre way to create a justification.

AustinRacing
Makes sense. A committee will be formed to appoint a sub-committee to work on a response that will require relevant agencies input to advise the sub-committee in preparing a response to the committee that will be discussed by senior government officials that will likely require further investigation. These things take time.

nabbie
Imagine the couple are arguing each other without harming their children. Perhaps we can call that a natural path. We can not accept if they are arguing each other and killing their children. That is NOT a natural path. I am afriad to say that situation is exactly the same to what happen to the innocents in Ukraine. ????

Due to their stance Thailand was able to escape colonialism. Thailand ultimately escaped colonialism because the two powers decided that they would rather have a buffer country between their colonized countries to avoid having a direct border that conflicts could occur across, rather than anything thailand did diplomatically. Ukraine was serving as that buffer region between nato and russia and the increasing likelihood of it no longer serving that purpose has a lot to do with the invasion we are seeing now

They don't realize they are more colonialized now than ever. One might almost be tempted to say that morality here is driven solely by selfish considerations, not the least of which is the god Mammon. When you think about it, even making merit is an entirely selfish action, to benefit themself. It has no other purpose. Anyway. Thailand is Buddhist in name only. So many things that happen in the country break every rule of Buddhism.
