Ukrainian men aged 18 and older can not leave the country. I am not sure if there is even an upper age limit anymore although it was 60. Many men working abroad are making their way back to their homeland to fight though.

I wonder how the Ukrainean footballers of Man Citeh and Everton and other clubs are managing these days.

Yeah, most of the TikToks I've seen seem to focus on the 'benefits.'   There are discussions of whether joining the Russian or Ukrainian side would be a 'better' deal (with everyone seem to be overlooking the fact that apart from the initial optics, they'd likely just be cannon fodder).

'Putin has to be stopped' - the Britons preparing to fight in Ukraine.

Since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on foreign fighters to travel to Ukraine and join in the defence of the country, hundreds of Britons have come forward saying they want to volunteer.

"I've been losing sleep over it," says 32-year-old Joseph, whom we are only identifying with his first name at his request after he said he planned to make the journey to help in any way he can. "I feel like we're not doing enough."

Although he says he has recently applied to join the British army, he does not have any military experience - and has no links to Ukraine other than a friend he attended college with.

Hit Reuters now also

In a single day this week, a Thai-language online group gathered more than 2,000 names of people interested in volunteering for Ukraine, the group's organiser told Reuters.

Chanaphong, 28, said he felt upset for the Ukrainian people, particularly after reports of Russian attacks on civilians.

"I have been involved in demanding democracy in my country ... and opposing tyranny," Chanaphong told Reuters in an interview.

"They (Ukrainians) are also fighting for democracy and is now invaded by a superpower and a tyrant, so I asked myself what I can do for them," he said.

Hopefully our most vocal, gung-ho AseanNow members will pick up the gauntlet and volunteer to shoot Russians in Ukraine to save the world.  Why bad mouth all thing Russian when you can now volunteer to go and fight for Freedom and Democracy!  Please answer the call!  The Free World needs your help to crush the dictator Putin and the Evil Russians.
Don't wait...now's the opportunity. ????????

Watch the Oliver Stone docu "Ukraine on Fire 2016" and hear how the Jews received the Nazi's in Ukraine. YT has it, well at least they had it yesterday. I can upload it to the cloud if you can't find it.

Stone is a loon on Russia and Putin, as illustrated by the following 2019 New York Post report:

Oliver Stone asked Vladimir Putin to be his daughter’s godfather

"Was Oliver stoned?

In a scene more bizarre than any of this conspiracy theories, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to be his 22-year-old daughter’s godfather."

But his conversations with Putin back then did eerily presage the future:

"Putin also told Stone that the Russians and Ukrainians “are one people” and the countries should find a way to combine."

https://nypost.com/2019/07/20/oliver-stone-asked-vladimir-putin-to-be-his-daughters-godfather/

Stone's credibility on Ukraine is bottom of the barrel.

Any link?

I am not able to copy a link but search for 2010 Thai political protest and you will find articles, Below I copied from Wikipedia.

According to the Erawan Bangkok Emergency Medical Service Center, 25 people were killed in the clashes. The dead included Japanese cameraman Hiro Muramoto, 10 protesters, nine civilians and five uniformed soldiers.[70][71] The Center noted more than 800 people injured.[72] Autopsies revealed that 9 of the 10 dead protesters died of gunshots.[73]

The military initially claimed that it used rubber bullets and tear gas in the clash, while firing live rounds only into the air. However, video footage from the international media showed soldiers firing assault rifles in fully automatic fire mode in the direction of protesters. Protest leaders claimed that a number of protesters were hit by army snipers from nearby buildings.[73] The military later admitted that troops fired live rounds directly at protesters, allegedly shooting only single rounds to protect injured troops retreating from the clashes.[7

I am afraid you got it mixed up with another revolution.

In 2010 it was not the military takeover, they came on the idea only in 2014, few moths after the Maidan revolution in Kiev. And there were the snipers...

The 27 year old quoted would have been a teenager barely out of high-school.

They are willing to put their well being to the defense of the complete strangers in desperate needs. Quite admirable. It's sickening to see all the negative comments from people that are all talk but do not a damn thing.

Ukrainian embassy most welcome you too as a cannon fodder to defend complete strangers.
They might even pay you for joining their information campaign, as they pay those thai losers out jobs and life prospects in their homeland

Hopefully sending a large percentage of their silly oversized salaries back to support their country.

Nothing to do with democracy, which can only be raised by political education, conscious organised action and not by gun barrel (which contradicts thinking and rational solution to problem, including diplomatic once in case of an international conflict).

It has everything to do with democracy - a democracy that Ukraine's people died for.  They know the sort of democracy they'll have under Putin's control, they've had a taste of that before.

My reply was for the poster who claimed that thai pro-democracy individuals are volunteering to ukraine as mercenaries in defence of democracy.
situation now in ukraine war is much different than during spanish civil war, when international brigades from all over the world come in defence of republican democracy against fascist Franco and catholic monarchy.  They were volunteers, not payed by the state mercenaries.

ukrainian state and its political system is very much alike that one in russia. And its not democratic, progressive, libertarian at all. Nothing to compare to western political system, where opposition can freely speak.

"Ukraine isn’t the  “democracy” that Western politicians and media like to give the impression it is. In fact, the political and economic superstructure of Ukraine is not very much different from that of Russia. So the argument that it is “democratic” while Russia isn’t and that “we” must support it to defend “democratic values” is false."

Some government person was saying they may be breaking Thai law. So they could be arrested on their return home, if they survive.  The UK said the same but the lady foreign secretary was encouraging Brits to go and fight nonetheless.

Thai, as well as the UK government, can and should refuse passport or revoke it, to protect lives of its own citizens, motivated by whatever irrational motions they have.
Any war, but the class war, hasnt got anything to do with democracy and human progress.
Contrary, it destroys democracy, civil society, replaced by arbitrary orders from always mad politicians and even maddier generals.
War escalates nationalism, racism, divides continents, countries and families. Brings destruction and misery.
Humanitarian response to any war is to keep as far as possible from military involvement, but helping civilian victims

the simple fact that a lot of Russians decided to live there does not give them the right to take those areas over.

...

Sorry, I don't want to interfere, but please get your facts right: it's not that those "Russians" decided to live there. Nothing "simple" about it.

Fast rewind to Stalin (compared to which even Hitler would pale). He liked moving people around what was then a young Soviet Union. A million Russian Jews here, a million Kazakhi there, send a million to Yakutia and so on. He sent loads of ethnic Russians to Donbass, Ukraine. This was several generations ago. They didn't want to go, they had no choice. The current descendants have no fault: they were born there, their grand-parents and grand-grand were born there. A litte like US Americans today have no fault of their ancestors having seized immense territories from the Natives, or the Canadians or the Australians.

I could go on about the sad state of affairs in that region but I think this is not the place as I don't want to be seen justifying the current war (which I do not condone in the least).
