Lao Khao and tonic! Brilliant! Fights sobriety and malaria at the same time. I need to try that one.

We have been experimenting with slushie syrup. 1 part syrup, 2 parts Lao Khao and 3-5 parts water. The lemon-Lime flavor makes a respectable Kamikaze.

As for the monk, it is against the rules and he will have to deal with that. It has been a plague amongst the hometown priests since forever.

He shouted: "Drinking's not wrong - I'm not hurting anyone".

He then fled the scene DRIVING off in a car.

Tun has been a monk for four years. His previous career was policeman.

But he was sacked from the force because of drinking.

People should be supporting the guy not punishing him. Alcoholism is an illness. It caused him to be sacked from renumerative employment. The poor man attempted to turn his life around as a monk.

Polishing the floor with saffron robes is not allowed.

He was already a Policeman once and he got sacked, I don't think that would let him join the Police again

Plus, it is quite hard to be actually sacked from the police, so I think he is a career p_ss head....????

Is this the infamous 'inactive post' that so many disgraced RTP end up in?

I always wonder what that is.

He will have to "attempt" harder if he wants my sympathy.

Sadly he will be ‘de-frocked’ and thrown out with no options but to turn to crime.

I often believe the ‘temples’ and monkshood offer a social security net for those who are uneducated, unskilled and can’t find work in the Police Force or Military...

Really? You think?

When I saw the headlines first thought was the cop

On the Ducate bike who killed the doctor then checked himself in as a monk maybe too soon to drink? ????

How exactly was he attempting to turn his life around as a monk, by drinking more?

Priceless comedy gold for Thailand...

You couldn't make this stuff up...if you tried!

And... he really must have been, to quote the headline here, "drunk as a skunk" in order to get fired from the RTP for that kind of offense....  Getting fired from the RTP, as others here have noted, isn't such an easy thing to accomplish!

At least, him drinking modest Lao Khao, might be proof of that he did not steal from the collect.

Then where else does he get the money from or has he got a partime job at the local pub?

Unfortunately true.

I wonder, where does he go if he is defrocked. I would imajine he would descend into more drinking. Yes, its a destructive mental affliction.
