Sole of foot feels dead

Featured Replies

for the last few months i have had a dead sort of feeling at the end of my toes on the sole of my feet ,now the right one has spread ,it feels numb ,but if i pinch it it still hurts ,so its not dead ,anyone ever had anything like this?

do you smoke? if so, that could be something to do with it.

My grandfather had similar due to smoking.

Are you diabetic?  Could be nerve issues related to that.

I had this happen to me several years ago and worried quite a bit about it as I had heard  that this was a symptom of multiple sclerosis.  Sometimes the lack of feeling in the sole of my left foot made me drag my foot while walking.  The symptoms seemed intermittent and some days my foot felt normal.

After almost a year of having these symptoms of numbness, sometimes a tingling feeling in the toes, these symptoms disappeared.

I am 75 years old and I believe that too much concentration on the health of the body can easily destroy the health of the mind.  The medical tests required to find the cause of this condition are not simple or inexpensive to do.

Have the same symptoms but only right toe and sole and a little knee pain.

Appears to be linked to sciatic nerve and weekly massage alleviates the pain for a few days.

no ,had that checked regularaly ,no problem there .

It could be any number of things, from a neurological problem to a problem with circulation to an issue with your spine.

Is it both feet or just one?

Test your circulation by pressing hard on the nail of your big toe and seeing how long it takes to turn back to normal color. It should be just 2-3 seconds. If longer, may be circulatory issue.

I had asked in case this was a drug side effect.

It is  possible  that your potassium levels are off due to the diuretics, and both high and low potassium levels  can cause tingling and numbness in the feet. You should get a serum potassium level checked at once (any lab can do this). If it is above or below normal range go straight back to your heart doctor with the results to get your meds adjusted.

If your potassium levels are normal, then it may be a neurological condition.
