I have noticed autolife and a number of other media outlets are now using a new acronym

XEV which is combined 

Electric vehicle xEV is the generic name for electromotive vehicles such as a hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and fuel-cell electric vehicles

Basically anything that has an electric motor

using DLT stats combined XEV comes to 19,801 for August

Well, I figured out how they got 17,980.   When looking at the DLT stats for August they used the R.Y.1 category but instead of only reflecting  R.Y.1 BEV Electric (100% electric) they also added-in R.Y.1 "Plug-in/Hybrid EV categories of Gasoline-Electric, Diesel-Electric, Plug-in Gasoline-Electric, and Plug-in Diesel Electric. 

 

See the subtotals below, partial snapshot of the DLT spreadsheet, and how those four above mentioned  PHEV/HEV categories added to the Electric BEV category summed to 17,980.   

 

Basically the article is talking BEV "and Hybrids."  Pretty much mixing apples & oranges in terms of comparing January-July BEV numbers which only reflected BEV numbers with August BEV+Hybrid numbers.

'5 years 250,000 km The air compressor is broken. That means the cooling system of the battery and the motor have stopped working as well. But I think it dropped the QC because the air conditioner is burned and it doesn't turn off itself. I can still drive from Rayong to Bangkok to fix it.
Today, I came to test a new computer air conditioner from Rayong-Phutab Berk-Phitsanulok. It seems like I got a new car because 5 years ago, if I charge DC, the cooling system battery would work all the time until after charging it, it would continue to work for a while. But changing the computer air conditioner while charging DC, there will be a period of cooling break. It means that the heat management system is much better. It must be a recipe from the shop too. 🤣
The reason why the air compressor is broken, I think it's because it's very heavy use, because it's also used as an office car. 3-5 people use it. Always turn the air on until the needle. Going out, never turn it off. I think it makes sense to break down. 😂'

 

In comparison - our Mercedes PHEV also used an electric AC compressor, did make it to the 35,000 (!) km mark in 3 years and broke.....well, at least it was covered under warranty. German quality beats Chinese junk anytime....... ooohhhh wait, what was that again?

Do you have solar ?

What type of car do you need ?

What sort of driving do you do ?

     Spouse and I are buying a plug-in hybrid.  It gets us into electric in a bigger way than a regular hybrid but we still have a gas engine so we are not dependent on finding an electric charging station on trips.  We think for most of our driving we will just be using electric and we will have a home charger.  I would buy what works best for your needs.

i would say the exact opposite. all ev owners on this forum provide excellent, first-hand experience, advice, and answers.

just because you don’t like the answers doesn’t mean they’re not accurate. agian, shame on you!

 

every ev owner on this forum will tell you: ev's aren’t for everyone, ev's won’t save the climate, ev's have a lot of potential to improve

along with even better infrastructure, and yes, ev's have also some disadvantages too ...

From what I have read he has been here around 3 years already renting an MG ZS, was interested in a Chevy Captiva and now looking at the BYD Sealion.

 

For someone who is looking to leave Thailand in a few years then a second hand ( EV, HEV or PHEV ) can be found or as mentioned in the attached topic great bargains on the MG ZS EV right now.

I wouldn’t say that EV guys are cranky but they have been trolled pretty hard on this thread, thankfully the two main losers doing most of the trolling have ( been ) moved on so things should be more friendly now ….. either that or EV posters have given up answering the same old questions ?

I'm assuming you are concerned about being able to "quickly" sell the vehicle in a few years.   Well, the "sales" market share of used vehicles in a few years will still be predominately ICEV/Hybrid.  So, the number of potential buyers would be higher than potential EV buyers.   

 

But just because there will surely be a larger number of ICEV/hybrid potential buyers doesn't mean you will be able to sell your used vehicle faster as "pricing" and desirably of your model are probably the two biggest factors in how fast a used vehicles sells.

 

Now for me, I bought a new BYD Atto EV almost one year ago...still perfectly happy.   I  also still have my 2009 Toyota Fortuner ICEV (which I bought new years ago) as my 2nd vehicle.  I'm happy with my EV vehicle....and I will probably never buy another ICEV/Hybrid while I live in Thailand which will hopefully be the rest of my life as its been for over a decade and half now.   I charge my EV right at home with a wall charger....I save around 78% in fuel costs compared to my Fortuner....and the charging network in Thailand is good for long trips.   Now if I was living in the U.S. I would probably buy a hybrid because of a limited choice in EVs (U.S. EV sales is ruled by Tesla and also protecting its ICEV/hybrid manufacturers from Chinese EV manufacturers)   and the charging network for long trips in many parts of the U.S. is inadequate.  

 

Don't be afraid of buying an EV especially if you can charge right at your home using a wall charger.....it makes keeping your EV charged as easy as keeping your smartphone charged.   And with the range of EV nowdays which is around 400Km and more, the charging network in Thailand is good in many areas and along major highways for those l....o.....n.....g trips with a radius of say 200Km or more.

You most certainly don't want to buy a hybrid - that is just a silly marketing gimmick.

 

EV's are not for everyone, either - I do not see the likes of my wife being able to get the benefits of the technology.......yet. (This observation is confirmed by Chinese vehicle manufacturers that offer EREVs and PHEV's for almost all EV models they make for the Chinese market)

 

PHEV is the best compromise for her - 100% electric around town form our solar, stress free trips when leaving town, driving it as an ICE powered vehicle.

 

Here in Thailand, choices are still limited - so depending on vehicle configuration, the BYD Sealion 6 and the GWM Haval 6 PHEV are great offerings, the latter with a colossal 30kWh battery for close to 200 km of pure EV travel.

almost every week, a new ev hater shows up in this thread with ridiculous claims and insults aimed at ev owners.  
in contrast, many forum members are open-minded and ask questions about electric vehicles. they receive patient and

detailed answers. unfortunately, some of these members are driven away by the haters and have decided to avoid

the topic of electric cars in this forum ...

 

ev owners don't judge or insult others for buying an ice vehicle, but the reverse has become the norm ...
