I won't have to concern myself with that for about 6 years, as battery is under warranty for 8 years, and 2 down.  Life expectancy being 20 or 40 yrs, depending what propaganda you read.

Doubtful the motors will have any issue, or the battery for that matter, within mine or the wife's lifetime.

The rest of the car, if needing something, yes, the dealer would be doing the work, as stated enough times, I'm a LPOS.  Don't have the tools to do anything anyway.

Only played mechanic on vehicles in the past, because I was too poor to pay a mechanic to do.  Not a problem now, or been the last 40 yrs, as could afford newer cars that didn't break down.  Can't remember last time I had to fix something.  Maybe a water pump on my Maxima, means 1994 maybe.  Remember swapping that out before it crapped out.  Prior to that, might have been 40 years since I actually worked on a car, besides basic tune up.

What's an LPOS?

Then don't call members on AN dinosaurs, who may have more automotive knowledge than you,  cos you just call out the tow truck to fix any problem with your EV....😬.

Bloody cheek.....

So now EV's doubtful to get any problems........🙄

There go, as usual, misunderstanding what it state, or applying it as you see fit.  Never said EV won't have problems, just that I don't expect any with mine, that I need to be concerned about.

At the 8 yr mark, if it craps out, out of warranty, I'll just buy a new.  Never owned any car for 8 yrs anyway.  Saw one the other day that looked really nice, and right up my alley ... JAECOO 6, and only ฿1.1M

If needing info for our MG, I'd simply go to MG or one of the MG forums.  From my experience with FB Groups (drones & photography), I didn't take very long to go from the dumbest person in the room, to the smartest.

Not much different from AN, when thinking about it.  Old grumpy members stuck in the past, knowledge & tech wise, and think they are current, when in reality, they're dinosaurs.

Wasn't it a FB group that we found the info about the 2019 MG ZS having a battery moisture issue, along with the fix, and also that the new 2022 ZS now being IP67 ?

Yes it was a FB group page that raised the issue on the 2019 MG ZS EV Battery vents having a potential battery moisture issue I haven't seen a fix for this and according to this youtube page problem still exists

this refers to 2019 model only as as battery was changed for 2022 onwards models

January 14th 2024

Weakness of MG ZS EV that has not been fixed: Battery water enters through the battery vent cap

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7W9ctFbK4M

With approx 21,000 MG EV registered over the past 2 years and 60,000 BYD EV registered over a similar period

if someone is looking for particular information on a brand / model I personally would't limit my research to just expats as of the combined MG and BYD registrations of 81,000 the numbers owned by expats that use English language as their primary language may be quite small in numbers

They had a redesigned plug, that kept moisture out, and think I even posted about it, when we were discussing it.  Though TBH, don't know if it actually worked, time tested.

Yea, I'd use MG or BYD forums, such as one I posted earlier.  Or forums in OZ, as basically the same cars are sold there.

Wulling are imported into Thailand as a whole vehicle from Indonesia

How come the price of Wuling Air EV in Thailand is cheaper than in Indonesia?

Wuling Motors Indonesia Brand and Marketing Director Dian Asmahani explained that the price difference was due to different incentive policies from the Thai government.

Chinese EV-maker starts assembly of Wuling at Thailand factory

Company sourcing 50% of parts locally, aims to increase it to 70%

The Chonburi factory of automaker EV Primus Ltd has started assembling electrical vehicles (EVs) under the brand name Wuling.

The plant has a maximum output capacity of 10,000 units per year, the company said on Wednesday.

I think Wuling’s start from about 150,000 baht in China

Wow, what a bargain for a car that drives well!  The MG 4 D for 599k baht. You can order any color now.

Fast charging is as fast/slow as Atto 3. For the price can't complain about the boot space, the spartan interior, speakers and infotainment system.

i took the bait and asked the dealer and now it 609,900 but for 2025 year model that includes a spoiler.

Will these 2025 newcomers challenge the BYD Dolphin in Thailand?

Dolphin was in 2024 the best selling EV, also in the 600k baht price range, leaving MG4, Neta V, ORA Good cat and Wuling well behind. The Thai online media is expecting 2 newcomers will come to Thailand. Will they challenge the Dolphin?

AION UT

A Mazda 3 sized car, bigger than the Dolphin. Is just launched this month in China. Prices in China are between 12,300 - 15,000 USD. If I take a 20% uptick that the Thai AION V has compared to the top China model,  top model of the UT is expected to be priced 612k baht.

This is the only chinese video [no English subtitles] I found that gives an impression of the cabin space.

Wuling Cloud EV

This car has an exceptionally big cabin and boot space, bigger than the AION UT.

Thai online media says it will be shown at the Bangkok Motor show. In China it is sold as Baojun Yunduo.
The price in China is similar to the AION UT. However in Indonesia the price is ridiculously high [ 850k baht].

As there is a Wuling factory in Thailand, perhaps prices in Thailand will be much lower.

Nice EVs if you live in a city, however not comparable to the Dolphin sized cars.

If I look at the uptick, Wuling's uptick from Chinese to Thai prices is like AION around 20%, likely due to absence of import duties if they are made in Thailand. Insurance will likely be lower as well than an imported CBU.

Actually not a bad looking car, considering price point.  I saw one on display locally at Makro ...

IF for just knocking around town, I'd take over any other <฿500k  vehicle available.

SAIC IM L6 first look and comparison with Tesla Model 3.

The car (or the similar SUV LS6 or LM6) was shown as mockup at the December motor show at the MG booth. Sales most likely to happen through MG dealers. The staff mentioned that for the upcoming motor show in April there will be more details available including a possible RHD model for viewing.

And ... at the 900k kms mark, it still has 85% capacity ...

Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) - the world's largest battery maker - is now moving its long-life electric vehicle batteries from the R&D and prototype stage to the launch phase.

It just announced that it will supply an EV battery that can last 15 years and will be good to cover nearly one million miles. CATL gives it a 10-year or 600,000 miles warranty, and guarantees that it will have 85% capacity retention at that stage.

I believe CATL guarantees their batteries to 'auto makers' for 1M kms, or so was told by YT'er 'Electric Viking'

Yes, but that car is what it is. A cheap taxi. I've ever sat in one, it is same interior and worse built quality as a Toyota Corolla Altis in base trim. Just a taxi. You wouldn't want to drive this as personal car....

Buses and commercial vehicles

Tianxing is a CATL’s brand for EV batteries dedicated to commercial vehicles

CATL’s new Tianxing-B (Tectrans B) battery has been developed specifically for electric buses. It has an energy density of 175 Wh/kg, which is the highest energy density in the bus industry, company claims. Battery service life is 15 years, and 1.5 million kilometers (930,000 miles).

Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) revealed the new battery during the online conference on Friday evening. Tianxing-B will have a warranty of 10 years or 1 million kilometers (620,000 miles).

In 2024 there is hardly any competition in EV models sold of Accord/Camry sized sedans:

  • BYD Seal 5,156 units
  • TESLA Model 3 3,238 units
  • Deepal L07 743 cars

I really hope that the rumors are true that XPeng Mona M03 will come to Thailand in 2025 to shake up this segment.

Given the 50% uptick of the Thai Xpeng G6 compared to its price in China, the 420 km range M03 would be priced between 900k to 1M baht, just below the Seal Dynamic. Of course BYD will undercut this price, if it arrives in Thailand.

BTW the dimensions of the Mona is similar to Camry, and not to Corolla.
