I do agree with you ... with one exception, " welcome back EOW"!!!

he was a t.... before he had his long break, and he is still the same annoying t..... to spam every ev topic! he should go back under his rock or spend more time with his family ...

best, do not feed this t... again!

when I read t...

I thought of a three-letter word that rhymes with sit.

I think both our assumptions of the exact word have some validity

Power 🔋 can mean more than one thing when talking EVs.

Ok…. Elaborate on your point..

That would be using your ‘brain power’ to contribute effectively to try discussion because the image above means nothing…

You wrote [ EV’s are low on power ]…

So, what did you mean by that if it wasn’t ’power of the drive train’ ?

I would get him to check out the BYD Dolphin and the MG4.  I don't know about the Dolphin but my friend Vernon has the MG4 and he's at least 6'4".

Thanks!

With regards to being 6'4"...  thats a lot of vehicles that would cause issues... either EV or ICE.

I'm 183cm (6') and in every car I've driven my seat is as far back as it goes...

Thus: For a 6'4" person, there may need to be a minor modification to the seat rail to make the seating accomodate your sons height (though that may make the steering wheel too far away).

Thus: go for a car which at least has a dual axis adjustable steering wheel too (up down and towards you).

Budget is obviously a key option - if willing only to spend 600k, then the type of care you'll get is clearly not going to be a top range EV.

Yup... I bet it did...

In your previous cars have you had to have the 'seat runners' adjusted (moved back) to give yourself more leg room ?

Why you and anyone even bother to discuss with this troll expat oil worker. He's a nuisance and needs a ban here. Seriously. On my ignore list immediately

He wasn't always like this, there was a time when he was anti-EV but relatively sensible and often quite humorous.

You guys are hilarious 😂 😃

Back in 2023 when EV sales numbers were growing at double digits, every EVangelist walking the earth 🌎 were parading the numbers like it was the second homecoming of baby Jesus 👶 himself.

Now that EV sales numbers firmly are in negative territory, then nobody cares 😊 😃 😀 😄

The only way you like to play is like this....

Thanks, I was planning to walk the show again this year, but with all the posting on sales numbers and whatnot on here I thought someone might have some definitive numbers on what the best-selling brands and model are.

I have no interest in a niche brand.

Also, my boy's about 6'4" so it needs to be roomy.

I asked my friend Vernon how tall he is and how comfortable he is in the MG4 this is what I got in reply...

Nope. What I was saying was that nobody on here who has an EV bought it to save the world. Seems they bought them because they are excellent value for money, they have better performance and comfort, lower running costs etc. I don't believe there is a single person here who's primary reason was to save the world, they really don't care.

For some reason... ExpatOW has an extreme negative bias against EV's but I just can't work out why...   it makes for a rather pathetic 'gone down the rabbit hole of irrelevance' arguments that make no difference.

I don't for a moment think that EV are any answer to offsetting our carbon footprints.

I do believe that the raise in CO2 levels in the atmosphere is related to an increase in temperature.

I do believe that work needs to be carried out to remedy this - I don't beleieve electric vehichiles or any battery tech is the soloution to any of this.

BUT...  there is also the other aspect of 'clean city air' and I think that battery tech is an ideal solution to this.

Thus: If someone is driving less than 300km per day and can charge their car at home and EV is an idea solution.

I never thought I'd get an EV... I never really liked any of them, I didn't believe in them as a solution. I just bought the car I liked and it happened to be an EV.

Is is better.... Yes... Much better... and No, also much worse...    Its a LOT more convenient to use.

Its faster, quieter, cheaper....  but on corners its notably heavier so not as nice to drive (when comparing like for like - but then again no one drives an SUV for its 'drivability')....

I think a lot of the EV - ICE debate involves those with the loudest voices arguing flawed and readily refutable points over and over again just to express their bias....

... when in reality....   the world is sutiable for both.... EV's in your driving is mostly in the city, ICE's if you live well away from infrastructure...

As far as bias arguments commonly used - I just find them stupid and the user of said arguments allows their bias to mask their intelligence.

You just don't get it do you.

The share of new EV's in the market continues to grow.

The share of new ICE in the market continues to decline.

The number of EV models available continues to increase

The number of ICE models available continues to decrease

EV Factories and manufacturers continue to invest in Thailand

ICE factories continue to close in Thailand

QED The number of people choosing EV over ICE is increasing.

To use your analogy, the number of deaths last year was more than 1923 therefore the population is going to die out.  It's all about relativism.

Try using relativism and we will relate to what you are saying.

Whether you like it or not, EV's are here to stay and their growth is exploding.

Yeah... But its an MG...

Your Son could look at any other car......    AND...   as mentioned the physical attachements of the runners could be adjusted backwards (mechanically) to shift (alter) the minimum and maximum 'slide positions' so that he comfortably fits...

Depending on the car, this may not permit for much rear occupant leg room (on the drivers side) but thats always the case with tall drivers anyway....

I have thought for a few years now that it's impossible to stop this continually rising world temperature.  We just need to accept it.  Everything we do is far too little and far too late.

Growing economies like China and India will never do anything.

We have an MG4, I drove it myself for 6 months before I got my Seal.

The MG4 is an excellent car, it's better than my Seal in a few ways (far better handling and driver feedback).

You're comparing two Chinese cars... as much as I see the improvement of Chinese Vehicles, Its not a comparison thats filled with critical credibility...

I direct correlation between atmospheric CO2 and Global Temperatures has been proven.

The relationship 'could' be more complex than just atmospheric CO2, or it could be 'just down to CO2.....

... nevertheless the evidence is damning.....     Accepting it an living with it is a little weak.

But we cannot life without energy... So we need Oil & Gas until we find something better, which we have not done yet; with the exception of nuclear which the world is scared of, but we'd still be significantly reliant on petroleum (Oil & Gas)....

So I believe we really should be concentrating on carbon recapture, while also looking for alternatives. Batteries are not the solution by any means at all... they just give us cleaner city air, thats all (and are a future catastrophe in the making).

Correct - in fact they are 'doing worse' their coal consumption has increase 3x over the past 10 years.

The USA and EU is playing it cleaner...  jumping through hoops with clean energy clean products, starving ourselves and ruining our own industry as we can't comply with our own clean demands, meanwhile we purchase so much from China who obliterate the rulebook our own nations are forced to play by by our on governments....

With struggling economies, we are then forced to get into bed with countries such as China as we have killed off both our own industry and expertise.

Trump and his “First Buddy” will soon remove all the climate control stuff in the former colonies.

I don’t believe there is any way on this earth we will avoid climate catastrophe.

In theory, it’s possible, it just won’t happen.  By the time the idiots wise up it will be too late. We should have already ramped up CC&S by now, not only is it not really happening there aren’t as yet plans to ramp it up.

We will hit that tipping point before they forecast it.

On the issue of critical credibility, I had 2 German cars, one a PHEV and the other an EV.

The Chinese cars feel lighter as if the steel is thinner, the Chinese cars seem to be more reliable too, and a lot better value for money.  There is nothing wrong with MG’s EV’s, I am not as confident about their ICE cars and they did get off to a bad start. I think you’re wrong with your comment “Yeah... But its an MG... ”.

I don't... I've been in them !!!....  I'm make the same comment about NETA's too !!!

In fact, if I get a NETA as a BOLT or GRAB, I cancel it !!!...

I just don't rate them at all, not even in the slightest much to KhunLA's sphinctal clenching...

I'm negatively bias against MG's... I admit that...   Its not an Anti-Chinese thing.... as I really want the new Xiaomi when it comes here....    Its an anti-MG thing, I just think they are cheap rubbish, but for some, I can see how they offer value for money.... I'd rather have a BYD.

All personal tastes of course.

Same here...  there are not many car's where the Seat is not 100% back.

I think the Volvo XC-90 I wasn't 100% slid back....

... the other issue is then seating position as we are kind of 'reaching' for the wheel, which makes for a somewhat of an awkward position...   some cars are designed for taller people, others are not.

I do wonder if the Chinese and Asian manufacturers in general are designed for an 'average' shorter person...

Most everyone builds to target the US market. Auto manufactures most all use components and whatnot from the same vendors. We (JCI) had a cut & sew plant in Rayong that made seats for Ford, BMW, Mazda, Chevy and Isuzu.

They look nice, Netas, on outside, though never peeked in one, let alone sat in.   Would expect they cut a few corners for that price point.

Daughter has the Atto 3, very nice, but I think I'd still go with the ZS.  Atto's driver seat is a bit tight, and I'm not big.

Oh yea ... and Anti - MG
