Last Dec. I bought a round trip ticket to Thailand and back to the US. My flight out is on the 5th of May. My last extension was to end on May 4th but I went in to get the year extension on Apr 4th and they extended my stay until June 4th. I had explained to Korat Imm. that I had a return flight booked May 5th a couple of months ago and asked if I could go in early for the extension and they said "NO" I could go in one month before, and no way to get it processed $$ sooner. Before, I would call in 3 weeks after applying and it would be ready. That was when they only had a one month wait time after applying. Now that they have changed that to 2 months wait time. The 3 weeks will be at the end of this week. If the stamp is there--no problem, but I am not counting on it. So, my choices are--- change my ticket $$ to a date after the June 4th date, meaning I will lose 5 weeks of work $$ in the States, or forget about the stamp and get a new visa when I come back in Oct. Anybody see any other option?

I cannot think of anything you can do other than change you flight date or enter with a new non-o  visa and start all over again.

Your under consideration period is really 30 days but it starts from the day your current extension ends. The 60 days you mention is due to applying 30 days before your extension ends.

Maybe you get luck and Division 4 will do the approval before you leave the country. Korat immigration might be able get them to get it done early.

Thanks Joe. Korat wouldn't help at all. I see what you are saying about the 60 days, I didn't think about that being the reason. I guess I worry about the government changing the rules for Marriage visas--uncertain times.

Joe, one more thing. After reading another of your posts. Would it be easier for me to return as a tourist and change here?

You could enter visa exempt and then apply for a non-o visa that would allow a 90 day stay and then during the last 30 day of it apply for the one year extension based upon marriage.

How difficult it would be to get a single entry non-o visa would depend upon where you apply for it at. Some embassies and official consulates are using the e visa site that is done entirely online now.

I will check into that e-visa. I just remember the last time I applied for a visa from the States, I needed police report, medical, and bank statement--- that was 8 years ago. Thanks for all the help.

As mentioned by uj.....skip the visa.

Enter visa exempt.

To apply for the non O you will require the 800k in your Thai bank on the day you apply.

You can have all that in place.

BTW..The requirements you mention , police report etc sound like non O-A.

In any event not important.

That was for a Non-OA visa application.

The embassy and the official consulates are issuing single entry non-o visa for retirement now.

Info here on the embassy website. https://thaiembdc.org/2020/11/17/nonoretirement/

You will only need 90 days of the insurance requirements mentioned.

As his current extension is for marriage he would only need 400k in the bank on application day for a non-O in Thailand, assuming he wants to continue or start again with that.
