MrJ2U
OMG. RIP little guy. That would literally devastate our family if one of our little ones got killed. Speed bumps through these little villages would go a long way to help slow these idiot drivers. Edited May 4, 2022 by MrJ2U 2 1
Popular Post 2009
Oh god. This is just unimaginabley painful to contemplate as a parent. When are the citizens of this country gonna do something about this? I understand these things happen everywhere but not on this scale. Not just the driving, but the parenting. It is a recipe for disaster. Letting a 3 year old cross a road alone is just..........I am lost for words. 14

Popular Post Lopchan
I know from personal experience how devastating the loss of a child is and condolences to the family. However, instead of lynching the driver, why not stop and ask why the mother let a 3 year old cross the road by himself and why did she not race to save the child if she saw the whole thing happen? There's also a good chance the little one darted out from behind a motorbike or car parked at the side of the road giving the driver no time to stop. 7

Unfortunately people drive to fast through the small villages that dot the country roads in Thailand. Maybe they drive better where you live. Obviously you you don't know Thailand. 1

Yet to be determined if he was at fault, or the mother being lax in her duties as a watchful mother. Better luck next time little one.
Popular Post 2long
This is very sad indeed but the truck driver may have just been 'driving his truck along the road' which is where trucks should be. Should a toddler be running across ANY road alone? Even at 20km the truck might have been unable to stop, depending on the circumstances. And even if (as I suspect) the driver is 100% innocent, this will affect him for years to come. Condolences to the family of the young lad, but I HATE the 'lynch mob mentality' of Thais in situations like this. 3
Popular Post digger70
RIP , Waiting for more information . So far only this When the mother saw her son running across the road back, he was hit by a 10-wheel truck Why would the People want to Linch the driver if that's what happen? 3

A quiet side road in front of your house in a village is very different to a road in a town. The child was obviously supervised the parent was watching. it is more likely that if the parent had accompanied him she would also have been killed by this man's atrocious driving 1 4

That helps. But idiots driving 120 kilometers through a village is the norm around Sakon Nakhon. It's not only children but if a dog, chicken, or buffalo strolls onto the road the driver swerves and plows into some house. I'm all for the 120 kilometers an hour speed limit on highways. Just slow it down going through the villages. .....of course this will never happen. Edited May 4, 2022 by MrJ2U 1 1

What it does say is that the driver was waiting to hand himself over to police which, if anything, suggests that he was not doing anything stupid and wanted to explain that he did not have chance to stop, otherwise he would have jumped out of his cab and run away. 2

This tragic incident did not occur in front of a quiet residential soi with children playing - it was on a main road. richard_smith237
A lot of people want to blame the truck driver - he may have been faultless. A lot of people want to blame the mother - she was at least responsible for the child at the side of the road - this was not a residential street. https://web.facebook.com/Sawangkunnatum/photos/a.756803770999973/5582907605056208/

When my son was young if I took him to the village along with my neighbors daughter, I held both their hands until they were 7 or 8 years old. At the same time I also taught them the Green Cross Code from the UK. https://www.twinkl.com/teaching-wiki/green-cross-code#:~:text=The Green Cross Code is,of the road in safety. 2
