The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) Phuket Office was notified by a hotel staffer of the distressed sea turtle near Kata Beach in the Mueang Phuket district. The turtle was 44 centimeters long, 46 centimeters wide and weighed 6.7 kilograms. However Kata isn't a very good choice as it's a very active recreational area. It may be too small to be breading age and was slightly injured by ghost fishing nets. Interestingly, it's a rare Olive Ridly Turtle...not the Hawksbill commonly seen around Phuket. 1
