The Russians have been living with sanctions for years. They are getting better at dealing with life without western parts and equipment. Between themselves, the Chinese, Indians and other partners they will manage.

EU resolve is failing

EU resolve is failing?  I've read of disagreements on how to end the war, but not of any nation advocating abandoning Ukraine.

How do you think morale in the Russian Army is holding up?

Ukraine wanted to be free from its former Associates Russia/USSR , just like the U.K wanted to be free from its former Associates , the E.U .

Do you think that justifies an invasion?  Should the UK prepare for an EU invasion?

Putin asked about Russia joining NATO and they just laughed at him. They aren't laughing now.

When you look at the situation on the ground today, it is obvious that there should have been diplomacy with Russia, not conflict.

They should start talking now, so that we can avoid getting into a nuclear war.

Source of your Russia joining NATO claim?

The United States and its allies are vowing to hold Russia accountable for crimes committed by its forces since they invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.

U.S. Undersecretary of State Uzra Zeya told a U.N. Security Council meeting Thursday on strengthening accountability and justice for serious violations of international law that in nearly 100 days the world has seen Russian forces bomb maternity hospitals, train stations, apartment buildings and homes and even kill civilians cycling down the street.

Actually there are sources for Putin saying he wanted to join NATO. But no sources for saying NATO rejected his advances. Or, for that matter, that Russia actually applied for membership.

Ex-Nato head says Putin wanted to join alliance early on in his rule

Vladimir Putin wanted Russia to join Nato but did not want his country to have to go through the usual application process and stand in line “with a lot of countries that don’t matter”, according to a former secretary general of the transatlantic alliance.

George Robertson, a former Labour defence secretary who led Nato between 1999 and 2003, said Putin made it clear at their first meeting that he wanted Russia to be part of western Europe. “They wanted to be part of that secure, stable prosperous west that Russia was out of at the time,” he said.

Putin Says He Discussed Russia's Possible NATO Membership With Bill Clinton

Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that he once raised the possibility of Russia joining NATO with then-President Bill Clinton, and that Clinton said he had "no objection."...

In a March 2000 interview with the British television journalist David Frost, Putin was asked whether "it is possible Russia could join NATO."

Putin, who at the time was serving as acting president and weeks later was elected to his first term, responded, "I don’t see why not."

Says the host of a Russian talk show , that's hardly an indication of Putins intentions .

A talk show host said it, Putin didnt say it

Perhaps watch the interview with Russian Deputy Defense Committee Chairman from a couple of days ago to get a feel of what the objectives really are:

"Here is a video with jarring quotes from Russian State Duma Deputy Defense Committee Chairman Vladimir Shamanov, former Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Airborne Troops, accused war criminal. He talks about Russia's horrific plans for Ukraine, its gov't leaders and journalists."

Some of his snippets:

"We will be the only ones present in Ukraine"

"We'll need 20 - 40 years changing one or two generations to fully uproot this disease"

Biden, Sinking in U.S. Polls, Seen in Europe As Rising Star for Democracy

As President Joe Biden struggles to reverse a steady decline in popularity at home, the U.S. leader's efforts to champion democracy across the globe has generated some positive reviews among allies in Europe, according to a new study published by the Denmark-based Alliance of Democracies Foundation and Germany-based Latana data tracking firm.

Biden has done poorly on some things, but very well on others

Credit where credit is due.

No president has ever been perfect. Even Lincoln.

Biden and the USA have been quite anonymous in the Russian/Ukrainian conflict .

All I can recall is Biden making an attempt at a speech, whilst reading from the auto cue aboutut something like "The Russians might win, but they wont win the spirt of the Ukrainians, " or something like that .

IMO, Biden should have sent Kamala Harris to meet with the Russians , say in Singapore or somewhere neutral and tried to find a peaceful solution , rather than just sending rockets and money

All of us have opinions. Putin would have NEVER listen to a woman of power is my rebuttal opinion.

You are correct. Trump would never have let this happen.

He would have tied the Ukraine up in a pretty bow and given it, with its 40 odd million people to Russia on a gilt plate.

At lest he got the UK an extra year of expansion back then.

From what I have read of the F35, it may take a decade just to get the bugs out of it.

Ah Right, so its because Putin is a sexist ?

Kamala Harris is great at doing her job and she is the right person for the job, but its just that some other person is a sexist ?

Very silly nitpicking point you're making here. The Kremlin may not write the script, but it does post severe editing guidelines,. Do you understand that in Russia it's a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison for calling the Russian intervention in Ukraine exactly what it is? Namely, a war.

Yes, but a talk show host does speak on behalf of the Russian Government and a talk show host doesnt tell the World Russia intentions or Government policy .

A Russian talk show host isnt a spokesman for the Kremlin

However Vladimir Solovyov the TV host in question is hand in hand with Putin and is often one step ahead of official policy and rhetoric in his TV announcements. Putin even made a claim that Ukraine was attempting to assassinate him which led to an absolute farce.

Vladimir Solovyov has even admitted that he has protection and is guarded by Officers of the National Guard.

Here we have yet another daily Russian TV propaganda show and the TV host Evgeny Popov is an actual State Duma member:

Twitter video with subs

As sanctions bite, state TV host Evgeny Popov, who is also a deputy of Russia's State Duma, proposes one way to save money: stop paying pensions to the Russians who emigrated to America: "What good are those people to us? Why are we paying to the collective Brighton Beach?"

And on the BBC News today there is this.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-61691816

Ukraine's foreign minister has hit out at French President Emmanuel Macron after he said it was vital that Russia was not humiliated over its invasion.

Mr Macron said it was crucial President Vladimir Putin had a way out of what he called a "fundamental error".

But Dmytro Kuleba said allies should "better focus on how to put Russia in its place" as it "humiliates itself".

Mr Macron has repeatedly spoken to Mr Putin by phone in an effort to broker a ceasefire and negotiations.

The French attempts to maintain a dialogue with the Kremlin leader contrast with the US and UK positions.

Foreign minister Kuleba said in a tweet that "calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it".

There is more at the link, including

Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi has aligned himself with Mr Macron, suggesting Europe wants "some credible negotiations".

scratch a little Jing& John, read a little Chomsky, and you should find, not unlike WWII, and Iraq ; there is a formula to get your empire expanded.

and yes, it involves "making the economy screams", sanctions are war by any other means, "an extension of politics is war" ; when your target decides that your "sanctions" are intolerable and you "invade" or your elites financials fight theirs, then you have war.

Doesn't magically happen from a one time Ally Vlad nor Saddam, it why we have 3 letter agencies. I mean how naive do you really have to be, when the monopolar new "sun never sets empire" comes right out and tells you what they are doing, and the "free press" amplies the "unnamed sources" warmongering,

and the only answer is to send more stockpiles of weaponry to your local police or to the Comic, who were to believe is actually in-charge of decisions in his country. come on man, really ?

do I have to die in a nuclear winter for "human rights" and "fighting them over there so we don't have to here" BS ?
