Arrested foreigners uncooperative with Phuket police after Russian woman dies in balcony fall

37-year-old Russian woman Evgenia S. only arrived in Thailand on May 25th last and had been staying at another hotel in the Patong nightlife area of Phuket. She was found by investigators at the back of The Emerald Terrace (inset top left) apartment building clutching human hair in her hand. On Tuesday night, police arrested one of the three foreigners found in the hotel room (inset) earlier that morning, Jordanian national Ahmad Radi M. , while trying to board a flight home to Jordan at Phuket International Airport (inset bottom left). He is being held along with an American man and another Russian woman on narcotics charges.

Scene found by police at The Emerald Terrace apartment building early on Tuesday morning was one of a sex, drugs and alcohol party with condom wrappers, an alcohol bottle and traces of cannabis found. Police are not yet sure whether the death was simply an accident, suicide or a possible homicide.

 

Police in Phuket have upgraded their inquiries into the demise of a 37-year-old Russian woman who fell to her death early on Tuesday morning in the Patong nightlife area of the island. This was confirmed by the Police chief, Police Major General Sermphan Sirikhon, who also revealed that all three foreigners, arrested after the incident on narcotics charges, are refusing to cooperate with the investigation after one of them, Jordanian man, Ahmad Radi M. was arrested at a boarding gate of Phuket International Airport while attempting to fly home on Tuesday night. All three, another Russian woman and an American man, are being held at Patong Police Station.

On Wednesday, the Phuket police chief, Police Major General Sermphan Sirikhon told reporters that his officers are still looking at three theories in the case which include death as the result of an unfortunate accident, suicide or the possibility that this may be a homicide incident.

Found dead clutching human hair. Looks like a fight took place before she allegedly fell off the balcony, Me thinks homicide involving drugs. Looking at her rough face complexion, it looks like she is no stranger to drugs. Suspects not co-operative. No real suprise, since when have drug addicts been co-operative.

The truth may never be known on this case but one thing is for sure she wasn't 7 years old. Again we can only guess what happen to this young lady but with all the drugs, alcohol and condom wrappers she wasn't having a birthday party as there was no cake.

Add to that one of the suspects attempting to fly home probably earlier than their original schedule and them being uncooperative. I would be looking more toward the homicide option. I guess though the RTP has to keep their options open especially as doesn’t involve any Thais. DNA analysis of the hair she had clasped in her hand should point the in the right direction in who to question thoroughly.
 

If you are going to pushed over balcony to your death you will instinctively grab a hold of the nearest thing to prevent that from happening which in this case was someone right in front of you also indicating she may have gone over backwards rather than forwards…I’m just guessing here folk based on scant info. It may well have been an simple accident.

"Uncooperative with police", meaning they didn't confess, they didn't reenact what happened, and they presumably requested legal representation, until which time they refused to talk. Quite normal anywhere outside of Thailand.

Clutching hair, that's a murder, must have ben lobbed over the rail in a struggle of survival grabbed the hair and didn't let go. She could have turned psycho on the gear and they lobbed her over due to that, still no excuse for murder....

..if she pulled out hair; chances are she has skin scrapings under her nails; and the perpetrator scratches..a Court Warrant will give them the authority to detain, examine and take what samples they need for forensic analysis.

They will get a much longer sentence for drug possession than homicide. How crackers is that? RIP to the deceased.

Strange one this as the when it involves a male the RTP automatically conclude it is suicide irrespective of anything else. Clearly the RTP think females do not commit suicide.   That aside anther op has already posted what many Russian women are doing in Thailand so perhaps this really was a naughty meeting that went wrong.

Such powers of speculation and  deductions about her complexion from a dreadful photograph, drug addicts, no evidence, cannabis users probably. Smoking dope does not make one an addict as drinking alcohol does not makeone an alcoholic

It is a very rare thing when I praise the cops here, but kudos to them for not simply labeling this another suicide. Sounds like some crazy stuff may have happened.
