Canada Day - July 1st

Featured Replies

Thanks, CVic. That's a good synopsis of the night's events. I like the booms and the oohs and ahhs. Ya, fireworks all over. Would have gone down to English Bay in Vancouver, but it's so <deleted> crowded there. My burb had fireworks, but forgot me camera, sorry Tippy. We're not as rich as Victoria so I think CV's shots will be better anyway.

I stopped shooting as the tempo picked up so I didn't get the really good stuff. (Camera wasn't up to it really)

Here's some of what I did get:

That's O.K., Jet. I'll never forgive you. :D You can redeem yourself next year. :D

Nice video of the fireworks there, Vic. :o I'm sure Kerry was happy about the lack of them in the Stan. :D

Since I didn't hear otherwise, happy to know that both of you still have all ten digits. :D

Well, the 4th of July is up next, so maybe there'll be some fireworks for that. :D

It's actually been pretty quiet here (on camp at least) for about 6 weeks. Obviously hoping that it continues for oh, I don't know, the next couple of years at least ? :D

15 days to go !

From the Office of the Millennial Governor

Dear Canadian Ex-patriates of the Thaivisa.com community,

It was with great surprise and astonishment to hear of such dedicated patriotism of the Canadian People in reaches as far as the infamous Land of Smiles, the great Kingdom of Thailand.

I have been informed that many of you have made a home for yourselves there, and others return to the kingdom regularly.

I am writing to thank you for your patriotsism. I am also pleased to inform such monachistic supporters as yourselves that you will now, once again have a Kingdom to come home to. The now-dissolved Canadian Parliament was pleased and gratified to ratify the new Millennial Constitution of the Canadian Territories, as overseen by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Welcome back to the fold. :o

He's trying, Tiggy. I think the mods stopped his post count. I noticed they did that with one other member before. So, Kaybes can post and post and post, but it's like his aerobics steps, he just will never get anywhere. One up, one down. Poor boy.

Is that possible?

No :o

I do remember back in my mod days freezing someone's posting rights at 499 as a joke :D

Hate to tell you this wabbit, but we were already a monarchy. In fact under Canadian law HM Queen Elizabeth II remains Queen of Canada even if the UK becomes a republic and dumps the monarchy.

F*, where's she gonna live?

I'm assuming wherever the heck she pleases. :o

F*, where's she gonna live?

She can stay at my place, seeing as I'm still paying rent on it, haven't been there in almost 3 years, and may not get back there for another couple of years.

(make sure you tell her to empty the garbage regularily, or it will attract the bears) :o

can I stay there while you are away?

...in need of somewhere to live....

Well, if the Queen doesn't want to stay at my place...............

Gotta tell you though, when you look up the word "remote" in the dictionary, I think it shows a picture of my place. Winter population of 40 or so people. Almost an hour drive until you hit paved road. Another half hour to the nearest store that has any kind of selection. About 2 hours (on a good day, if you are an experienced driver) to the nearest hospital. And so on.

Great place if you like nature and solitude (and bears/moose/cougars/deer/mosquitos and the occasional skunks and porcupines), plus cutting firewood for the winter (but hey, it's got that new fangled indoor plumbing thing !) :o

That's my kinda place. Smokey, Bambi, meese, big kitties. But I don't do firewood -- no left-handed axes.

I told some American dude in gen topics that Qbar was holding an independence party, free beers if you took your US passport, wonder if he went? :o

QBar in ? I went to the one in Saigon. But yes, Happy Independence Day to all our American members! It's a beaut day for it in the Pacific Northwest and I am loving my day off! I hope to see fireworks from the border. haha
