Nothing was found in his bags but an x-ray at Talang Hospital revealed a large number of round and oval packages in his stomach.

I wonder how they spotted this... ????

There has been a few mules arrested with drugs inside them

coming from Ethiopia , before the Covid thing, starting up again,

with nearly 1.5 Kg of Cocaine inside him I am sure he looked a bit

uncomfortable.

.............that's where it all starts to go wrong.

It goes wrong well before that. I am sure the customs officers wet themselves when they catch someone initially.

A lot goes on body language from what I have read, also use sniffer dogs trained to detect drugs

somewhat misleading title,  drug smuggling mules are not really tourists

Obviously what they mean is that tourists consume these drugs, so smuggling increases when tourism rises. The locals have their local drug already aside of booze.

this is a fine example of the benefits of "profiling" I would think it is standard practice to X-ray anybody coming here from Addis Ababa whilst the rest of the less suspicious tourists can pass through customs  relatively quickly.  Compare this to the UK for example where "profiling" is considered inappropriate and not allowed (officially)   So everybody gets checked resulting in huge queues and missed flights. Despite the fact that ... well I'm not going to say it but you all know what I mean
